I was thinking about the gospel of Thomas the other
day, and I realized that I needed a clearer idea about
the purpose of this text.
Why was Thomas written? What is the author trying to
do with it?
On a related note, how was Thomas used? What was its
function in early Christianity? Was it ever used
liturgically? Was it a set of lections for building
sermons around? A list of interesting Jesus materials
for personal study? What?
