Description
Greek Theology is an e-mail group devoted to examining the theological teachings of the NT. Since it endeavors to discern Christian doctrine from a Primitive and linguistic standpoint, this forum concentrates on studying NT and Septuagint Greek to apprehend the theological implications of biblical languages.
Greektheology is not a place where the traditional creeds of Christendom or the orthodox formulations of the Church are held in untouchable high esteem. Ergo, it is only fair to warn members that their religious ideas are subject to be challenged on this forum. Anyone who is uncomfortable with such challenges to his or her faith should not subscribe to this list.
The list-owner is one of Jehovah's Witnesses and he believes that the Bible is inspired of God and serves as the final authority where doctrinal debates are concerned. List-members are not compelled to agree with the moderator in this area, however.
All members are encouraged to appeal to the Greek New Testament or Septuagint, while engaging in the task of methodological theology when discussing topics here. In other words, we would like to see members of this electronic conference appeal to Scripture, the Church Fathers, or reason.
Despite the list-owner's personal religious convictions, the hermeneutical presuppositions of all members will be respected on Greektheology. Therefore, we urge all list-members to avoid attacking fellow members and to always keep in mind Christian charity.
Greektheology is a forum for respectful discourse about the theology unique to the NT and is open to people of all faiths. It is not a website that explicitly defends the JW faith. Greektheology only does so in an indirect way.
Greektheology is not the place for discussions about controversial topics that only pertain to the Witness faith.
THIS GROUP IS NOW READ ONLY. MODERATOR WILL POST 1-3 MESSAGES PER MONTH.
