Afternoon of Music Featuring Russian Tenor Andrey Nemzer
The Taylor County Arts Council and the International Mother's Day
Shrine are pleased to announce an "Afternoon of Music" on February
15, 2008 at the International Mother's Day Shrine 11 E. Main Street,
Grafton, WV at 2 o'clock PM. This will be an Afternoon of Music like
no other as our featured artist will be Andrey Nemzer age 26 of
Moscow, Russia.
Andrey begin his voice training at the age of four and at age 7 he
entered the Moscow Choral College where he sang in the boy's choir.
He finished his training in 2000 and left the college as the Choral
Conductor. The same year he entered the Academy of Choral Arts in
Moscow and from 2002-2004 he was a part of the Helicon Opera and the
New Opera Theaters, where he sang as a Lyric Dramatic Tenor.
Andrey is the Winner of the Russian Singers Competition where he won
First Prize in Russian Romance and second prize in "Bella Voce". He
is now a soloist in the St Nickolas Choir at the National State
Tretyakov Gallery and the Moscow Kremlin ensemble.
In addition to our featured artist, we are pleased to, once again,
have the Grafton High School Jazz Band in performance. This local
group is composed of highly talented students and they are always a
crowd pleaser. Under the director of Mr. Rucker this group has
performed extensively in and around Taylor County.
This event will kick off our seventh year of presenting quality music
to Taylor County and beyond and this event is truly an International
Cultural Exchange. The Arts Council and the International Mother's
Day Shrine are pleased to collaborate in making this event
possible.
A reception will be hosted directly after the performance by the
Thrivent Financial members of the Church of the Covenant in order
that everyone will have the opportunity to meet all the performers of
this very special event.
