RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE CAUCUS: We INVITE People of Diverse Faiths to join and Atheists/Others who have been traditionally oppressed, dealt with Government Interference or Societal Intolerance. Guidelines would come from Our Green Party Platform; Social Justice; Religious Freedom and Secular Equality.
1. Freedom of Religious Thought: Govt. has No Business in Our Thought (minds) as Individual Citizens on Matters Faith/Religion. (Except when actions, not "Thought" of One Individual or a Religious Group or Organization unlawfully interferes w/ the Rights of another Citizen)
2. Separation of Church and State: It is stated in the Platform that Government on Local, State and Federal must be "Religiously Neutral". I.e., defining Marriage using a "Religious Based Standard". Marriage Law should limit itself to Protecting the Rights of the Individuals (Death or Divorce or when there is "abuse" in a Marriage Contract). The Green Party is for Protecting the Rights of those with Diverse Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity.
3. Prevention of Religious Orgs from "Imposing their will on Others": Most Religious Orgs have in their "Roots" Ethical Principles, but when Religious Orgs grow in numbers/size they also grow in "Power/Influence". History shows many abuses of this "Power/Influence" therefore, We Must be Vigilant to Restrict this abuse of Power. This is a Legislative Issue as and a Societal issue in which We as Greens should Promote Religious Tolerance.
4. Prevention of Abuse by Political Organizations Manipulating Religious Thought for Political Gain/Hidden Agendas: "We the People" must Not be Tolerant this Unethical Propaganda Manipulation. This is Especially true for those of Us who Consider Ourselves to be "People of Faith", Religious Thought or Discipline. Almost all the major Religious Orgs have Peace and Justice Committees. Peace and Non-violence are Greens Values. 5. Promote Respect and find "Common Ground" between Diverse Faiths/Beliefs.
