Welcome to the Columbia Gorge Freecycle(TM) Network!
Freecycle, a concept born over three years ago in Tucson, Arizona, uses email and the Internet to connect people who have things they want to throw away with others who may want to have those things.
The Freecycle(TM) concept is expanding throughout the world like wild fire. Our Worldwide Network is now composed of nearly 4,000 groups with over three milion members and we continue
to grow at a steady rate.
Thanks to the environmentally and socially conscious spirit of the people of the Columbia River Gorge, our local group has flourished since its birth almost four years ago. Together, all Columbia Gorge Freecycle members are, little by little, easing the burden on our landfills, experiencing the joy of gift-giving and receiving and demonstrating the value in finding a new use for something old rather than disposing of our natural resources as if they were never-ending. We are growing closer as a community, leading by example, and helping preserve our planet for our future generations.
We also have a sister site called the Gorge Freecycle Cafe It is a group where members can converse with each other, inform members of community events, ask for information, ask for help, or offer volunteer services. Basically more of an open forum than freecycle permits on their own groups.
