Message 1924:
* SUNDAY 19 FEBRUARY (evening): SPECIAL FLAMENCO PERFORMANCE by WORLD CLASS
ARTIST RAFAEL AMARGO at COSTA DORADA (special admission prices - details below -
on the door for "Gordon's friends", with no booking required)
(Optional) Meeting and Venue Details: Meet Gordon on Sunday 19 February, between
6.30pm and 6.40pm, at Tottenham Court Road tube station (Central and Northern
Lines, Zone 1) near the ticket office to go to Costa Dorada (
http://www.costadoradarestaurant.co.uk ), 47-55 Hanway Street, W1T 1UX. To view
a map showing the location of this venue, click on http://tinyurl.com/d8tlk2 .
The Event: This event is organised by Angela Alonso of Ilusion Flamenca (
http://www.ilusionflamenca.co.uk ). The doors will open at 7pm, the
entertainment will start at 8.30pm and end at about 10.30pm. I suggest that
those arriving early help me to keep one or two tables so that, as far as
possible, we can try to sit together. We will be entertained by top
international Flamenco performer Rafael Amargo, former dance coach from "X
Factor" in Spain and France and special guest at this year's flamenco festival
at Sadler's Wells, which finishes on Sunday 19 February - see
http://www.sadlerswells.com/show/Rafael-Amargo and
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fozq29S_kPg . He will be supported by Vanesa
Galvez, one of the dancers of his company, Tito Heredia (guitar) and Manuel de
la Malena (voice). There will be live music, singing and dancing, and we will be
able to dance, eat tapas and drink sangria. Eating is optional, but tables, for
those who want to eat, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis
(with preference given to those who want to eat). The restaurant seats 120
people and with another 100 standing. I suggest you order early, so that your
food can be served before the show starts. You can see more details of this
event at http://www.ilusionflamenca.co.uk/shows_events.htm (scroll down to read
about the performers).
The Cost: The usual cost is 23 pounds on the door (or 20 pounds in advance).
However, Angela Alonso of Ilusion Flamenca has kindly offered members of my
group tickets on the door at 12 pounds before 8pm (a discount of 11 pounds), and
15 pounds for anyone arriving after 8pm (a discount of 8 pounds). No booking is
required. Just mention my name on the door when paying. Important: please try to
present the correct change, in order not to draw unnecessary attention to this
special deal (others in the queue may be paying the full price). Food and drink
is not included in the entrance fee.
