Periodic announcement of mailing list for Golden Retriever enthusiasts:

"golden@hobbes.ucsd.edu" is a generally unmoderated, subscription based
mailing list for Golden Retriever enthusiasts.

THE GOLDEN LIST IS A HIGH TRAFFIC LIST. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE UNLESS YOU ARE
PREPARED FOR A LOT OF INCOMING MAIL. CONSIDER THE DIGEST MODE (see below).
You can always (easily) unsubscribe, but I'm amazed at people who _request_
to be put on the list, _don't_ pay attention to the instructions describing
how to unsubscribe, and then go off the deep end when they get just what they
asked for (lots of mail about Goldens) and can't handle it, and can't
remember the simple procedure for unsubscribing. Don't amaze me. Read
the welcome message you receive when your subscription is processed.

Suitable topics include questions and answers regarding the Golden Retriever
breed in general, news bits, article summaries, activities (rescue, CCI,
therapy dogs, guide dogs), discussions of particular lines and breeders,
shows, health care, training techniques, bragging, summaries of local GR club
activities & newsletters, any other items which might be considered too
Golden-introverted for rec.pets.dogs, cooperation on a breed specific FAQ
for r.p.d, etc.

This list is not intended to subvert the rec.pets.dogs newsgroup,
rather to supplement it - all items of general interest should be posted to
the newsgroups. Faster response to GOLDEN-specific questions, a slightly
more private forum in which opinions about GOLDENS can be expressed
with reduced fear of repercussion, and (mainly) a place to carry on about
Goldens far beyond what might be considered "polite" in the general purpose
newsgroup are some of the benefits of the mailing list. There are currently
1600+ subscribers on the list. Message volume may range from 30-60 per day.
There is also a digest mode available which collects messages and sends them
to you as a single mail message with a table of contents period
