Description

The Greater Manchester Democratic Socialist Alliance (DSA) will be a grouping of socialists, including individuals but open to platforms – like the Scottish Socialist Party.

One of those platforms will be the Revolutionary Platform of the DSA.

There will be a launch meeting soon, in the main hall of the Friends’ Meeting House, Mount Street, behind Manchester Central Library on Thursday the 31st of March.

The main issue we are concentrating on is opposition to US businessman Michael Glazer’s attempt to take over Manchester United, and putting forward democratic control of football clubs by fans, players and other staff at the clubs. See the Manchester United fans discussion group.

We are also opposing the continued occupation of Iraq, which is US and British imperialism’s attempt to keep control of the world’s resources especially oil.

We also support freedom for Palestinians.

We are in favour of more democracy in the UK, as expressed by the Campaign for Democracy in the UK, including proportional representation via single transferable vote. We oppose erosions on our freedoms such as ID cards.
