let's stop with all the ideas and just make a definate plan.
i say we should we just go ahead with the next friday at austin as a
preliminary thing and then we can plan the big block party for june?
who's in?
Actually, I think Friday's a cool day to do it, because it keeps
everyone close to home after that long day you mentioned. I don't
think I've ever gone out in Glover Park on a Friday night, and just
been able to walk (stumble?) home. (That, and my Saturdays already
seem to be taken halfway through summer.)

This is hilarious. I have a girlfriend but if I didn't I'd be waiting
a the corner of 39th and Benton to witness the erruption of orgy on
the sidewalk at any moment. Carry on!

I'm sending this out to my girlies on Calvert and also at the

If there's only 20 people who know about this we can do sooo much
better! I feel ambivalent about a prelim meeting (don't know how

Hey y'all,
this all sounds really great and I would love to participate in any
way possible. My roommate just pointed this out to me yesterday,
and I just emailed some friends on Calvert street today. By
looking at the voting polls, there's about less than 20 folks that
know about this. I think that a solid marketing campaign of word of
mouth and emails should spread the word by next week.
Things to keep in mind:
1. the weather is only getting better
2. the more planning, the larger the turnout
For those eager to have a Happy Hour soon. Maybe we can have a
prelim show of interest/meet'n greet/designate organizers Happy Hour
this/next week?

I'm indifferet, but fyi, the drink specials are 7 days a week, so no

work (and a commute) is more of a happy hour with friends thing and

I propose partying on a well rested Saturday, no one is tired from

Anyone with me?
Hi Everybody,
Ok, so I've talked some stuff over with Alex, the manager at Austin
Grill. He said that next Friday would be great and that they would
love to branch out to the neighborhood. As you may know, the Austin
Grill in Glover Park is their original location. Anyway, from 10 to
12 (they close at 12) there will be decent drink and food specials.
They will also reserve the upstairs for us, which holds as many as 45
people. If we can get them a rough estimate on how many people will
attend, as late as the day before, then they can set up a buffet with
some platters, etc.
So:

********GLOVER PARK NIGHT********
FRIDAY - MAY 20th
10:00 PM to MIDNIGHT
AUSTIN GRILL, UPSTAIRS
2404 Wisconsin Ave

SPECIALS:
Bud, Bud Lite, Miller Lite $2.50
House Margaritas $3.25
Corona, Schiner Bock $3.50

Peace,
Adam
I would say something should happen this weekend--there seems to be
lots of pent-up demand, why wait another week with the awkward
silence? Even this morning was awful!
I don't think this should be a once-in-a-lifetime event. Let's be
neighborly, let's make new friendships, let's stop schlepping our butts
downtown every weekend because the friends we've got think they are too
cool to ride the bus.
My $0.02.

This enthusiasm is fantastic. As someone who has long wanted to attend
a bus crush gathering, I'm excited about all this. However, I think it
might be a better idea to have something in a couple of weeks. This
would allow for better planning and wider participation. I mean not
every D1 rider / Glover Park resident has been glued to Craig's List
monitoring the thread from the past two days. If we shoot for
something in June, we'd all have time to spread the word, build up the
groundswell of interest, and ensure that everyone's bus crush attends.
Or, perhaps a better way to look at this would be that something this
weekend would be a preview of the main event to come?
Just my thoughts.
So you wanna plan next friday night?

crush to come too!
I can definitely get at least 4 or 5 twenty something glover park

Enough chatting lets do this:
When: Saturday night 10PM
Where: Austin Grill
Who: All the good looking 20 somethings that silently ride the D1, D2
and whatever else
Why: To socialize and break our silence
Anyone in? Better suggestions?
First off, thanks for setting this group up Robert! I think there is
much interest in facilitating a gathering of Glover Park 20
somethings. I think everyone I've talked to in the park has a bus
crush or a WSC crush, so we need to bring these people together. One
option I think would be fun, easy, and laid back would be to get a
permit from DC and have a neighborhood BBQ at the 39th and Calvert
baseball field one weekend this summer after we have generated
interest. Any thoughts?
