Description

Global Chant is a chanting circle that welcomes genuine spiritual wisdom from all traditions and that uses sacred chanting as a vehicle for healing. We promote peace, sustainability and balance through our activities.

The original Global Chant circle started in Tucson, Arizona, in 1996, and continues to meet every Wednesday night at 6pm on the University of Arizona campus. Today, there are a number of circles that meet throughout the United States. Interest in Global Chant has grown steadily in the past few years, and new circles are being started on a regular basis.

Most of us who take part in Global Chant circles consider ourselves to be spiritual but not religious. We tend not to be affiliated exclusively with any one religion. Our spirituality focuses more on actions than beliefs. We try to bring healing intention to everything we do--especially our chanting--and we seek to align our actions with simple, universal ideals such as unconditional love, compassion, and selfless service.

The purpose of the Global Chant newsgroup is to exchange information about events and activities that are of common interest. Membership in this group is free. Messages are moderated to ensure that they are on-topic. Freedom of speech, tolerance, and respect for diversity of opinion are guiding principles.

To make the members list useful, we encourage you to fill out your Yahoo profile with at least your first name and a little bit of personal information that will help us get to know who you are. A picture of your face on your profile would be helpful, too.

Membership in this group is almost entirely self-selecting. We simply ask that you behave like a compassionate, respectful, and open-minded member of a spiritual community. Please share information that you think will benefit other group members. It's OK if you are charging for your services, but we want this not to be merely a forum for self-promotion. Let's inspire one another!
