Founded in September of 2005, GLBT-Denton is an independent civil rights organization for people who live in the City of Denton, Texas and Denton County, Texas who recognize and identify themselves as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender, and our supporters. The mission of GLBT-Denton is to try to unite all GLBT people and our allies who live in the City of Denton and Denton County, Texas; as well as to try to unite all Denton-based GLBT organizations to support and advocate for common causes. In addition, GLBT-Denton's mission is to provide support, education, advocacy, information, referrals, anti-discrimination action, political action, civil, employment, family, and equal rights; as well as other rights and causes that are of interest and that affect the GLBT communities in the City of Denton, Denton County, the State of Texas, the United States of America, and around the world.

On January 25, 2006, Gay Denton (on Yahoo! Groups) officially merged with GLBT-Denton (on Yahoo! Groups). See:

PREAMBLE

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people
to involve the political bands that have connected them to another.
We, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender People of the City of
Denton, Texas and Denton County, Texas, in Order to form a more perfect
Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the
common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings
of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this GLBT-Denton institution
for the City of Denton, Texas and Denton County, Texas in the United States of America.
