that reminded me of something else, be really careful of noting where thrust washers and similar hardware is, it has a habit of being so encrusted in grease

One source to some of those shoulder bolts and acorn nuts, if your local Ace Hardware doesn't have them is http://www.smallparts.com Search for shoulder or

Don't use starting fluid in the engine, bad things can happen, usually involving the vales. The service manual for the engine is here:

Rescued a 55012 Blower from 1972 heading to the scrap yard.
Just got a 55012 rusty Snow Blower that rarely starts unless you hit it with ether. Friend called me about his neighbor who wanted help to load it in a truck
