(Revised May 18, 2008) Welcome to the Geotrees email group, since March 2001 the flagship group for Geotrees.Com, where we share news, notes and knowledge that increase our understanding of the cultures and histories of others, and that help build community, culture, and civilization generally. We especially welcome those voices that are often unfamiliar, misunderstood, unconventional, or otherwise not sufficiently visible on the public stage.
AREAS OF INTEREST include education, the arts, diplomacy, travel, faith and interfaith, culture and interculture, history, bridgebuilding, reconciliation, philosophy, expatriates, empowerment, journalism, and literature - indeed, just about any realm of interest and activity that helps express, explore and enhance the best that human life has to offer.
We now offer OPEN EMAIL ARCHIVES, enabling anyone to read the list's messages at any time, and OPEN POSTING, so that anyone may post to "the Tree." You no longer have to be a subscriber to post and read mails, but only subscribers will receive mails as they are published. Geotrees remains "moderated, but not censored."
The group carries messages for many interests and activities, including:
- Cultural and historical events, performances, activities and festivals, presentations, etc. for all ages
- Descriptions, news and links of likeminded groups, schools, etc.
- Professional events and development for educators and other civilization-builders
- Job opportunities and positions wanted, local, stateside and overseas
- Grants and scholarships
- and More.
We primarily serve the Washington, DC area, but anyone may join. We are nonpartisan, independent, noncommercial and free of charge, and completely volunteer. The membership list is not shared with other parties. This group accepts and distributes attachments from trusted sources.
Visit the home page at http://www.geotrees.com/, and let us know how it can serve and support you "for the history of the future."
