Gloria,

Thanks for the information. There is a Spence family in Lenoir Co - jut
not sure how long they have been there. Obviously the names Issac, Thomas
and Robert Hardy show up all over eastern NC. Got to wonder if some of the
ones in Md moved to NC.

Martha, et al,

There were Spences settled very early in Pasq.-Perq.-Chow. precincts. There
was a John and Robert Hardy in Chow. precinct. Food for thought.

Betsy,

Humm. There are just too many Hardy floating around with not enough
fathers. Can't ignore the possibility some of them came out of Md. Sent
this to Sloan who is working the Spence line. She has already started to
follow up in Somerset.

Thanks.

My name is Vicki Carter. I am doing some research for a friend. I was
searching on RootsWeb in the Pitt Co. marriage records and found that you
had submitted a marriage record for Joseph McGlawhorn and Mary Weathington.

Joseph McGlawhorn is her great-grandfather. I think his father's name is
Jonathan McGlawhorn. Do you have any other information on this couple, or
their parents? Any info you have would help.

Thanks in advance,
Vicki Carter

----Reply Follows-----
Hi Vicki,

I'm not researching the McGlawhorn name, but several people in the Pitt Co.
Family Researchers, Inc., are following the surname. I'll forward your query
to our Mail List. Meanwhile, you should visit our website and check out the
resources we already have on line. Our Quarterly journal is first-rate, and
you may want to join the Mail list, too!

Good luck in your quest!

The PCFR web has a new cemetery--Dempsey Owens Cem.--contributed by Jo Webb.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncpcfr/

Also, I finally succeeded in updating the website of the NC Collection in
Joyner Library, bringing Roger Kammerer's topical index to the Daily
Reflector on line, and correcting several obsolete links. The library server
is not as easy to work with as others (at this time), so my updates to the
site are not frequent. We all owe Maury York (NC Coll. director), his staff,
and the Systems staff at Joyner, many thanks for sponsoring these vital
local resources.

While you're visiting the NC Collection website, take the whole tour,
starting from the Home page!

We're currently preparing "Page 3" (and maybe 4!) of our PCFR Photo
Album--stay tuned for more.

I received mine yesterday and as usual - it is outstanding. Thank you Roger
and Betsy and Goldis who contributed so many Bibles.

Roger - FYI - on the Rev War application by Ferebee Phillips for her son
Curtis based on his father, JOSEPH's, REV WAR service. I have seen the
Curtis Phillips Bible - did not have an opportunity to write much of it
down as caught the woman going out the door. The Bible very clearly says
that Curtis was the son of Shadrack Phillips. No where in the Bible does
the name Joseph appear. Rather strange. Ferebee and Curtis only appear to
have lived in Pitt Co for a short time and then lived in Lenoir Co in the
middle of the rest of the Lenoir Co Phillips family. We know there was a
Shadrack Phillips in Lenoir Co but the Rev War pension application is the
only time we have seen the name Joseph. I am inclined to think - but
certainly can not prove it - that Joseph and Shadrack were brothers, son of
Mason Phillips of Lenoir Co. Curtis was very young when Joseph died and
Ferebee may have remarried Shadrack who reared him. Shadrack does not
appear on any census reports. Either that happened or Ferebee hoodwinked
the Fed Govt.

Again, thanks for the usual great job. Have a new theory - kind of off the
wall - on the Hardee/Enloe/Croom problem.

Martha

I am looking for information on my Teel! Angeline Teel b. 1835 married to

David,
You'll need to get your Grandfather's death certificate. This will indicate the
cause of death. If he served in the military you might obtain his record. I
sent for my Dad's and it gave a wealth of information...Census records are good
but unfortunately enough time has not passed to obtain that information....
I encourage all of us who do genealogy to note the health issues of our
ancestors. While we have no control over genetic issues we can adjust our diets
and lifestyles to ensure healtier life. Good luck in your search. Gayle

Dear David,

I would search the death certificates on as many of the family as you
can. You may find a pattern to illness there. For instance, after
searching all death certs. that I could find on my family, I found out
that my family seemed to favor heart attacks above all else, except for
my father, his was service connected during WWII

Good luck

Dear Wendy,

William Samuel Little, born March 17, 1859, died Dec. 15, 1903, and was the
son of William Samuel Little, born Sept. 25, 1819 in GA., died May 13, 1880,
and married Julia Ann (Simmons) born Feb. 4, 1818.

The 1850 Greene Co. Census book shows him in the Olds section of that county
with his wife, sons Francis and Callis, Callis' twin sister (name
undecipherable, but probably Alice), and wife's half sister Martha Wesson
or Weston) (Sept. 15, 1834 --June 8, 1900). In the 1860 census and after,
his family was recorded in the Contentnea ( Now Winterville) Township of
Pitt County.

Children of the marriage were Francis Marion, Callis L., Callis' twin,
Solota Ann, William Samuel (Sammy), and Elizabeth. There was probably
another child. Susan Little, is shown in the household in the 1870 census.
She is buried beside W. C. Little in the old Garris Cemetery; her tombstone
reads " She was beauty to every good work."

Callis and his wife Susan E. are buried at Reedy Branch.

Sammy married Mary E. May 2, 1875--March 29, 1910 and their children
included Joseph F., Mary A., Herman C., Elizabeth, Rosa (married an
Everett), and Janice (Married a Tripp).

I hope this will help. Give me your address and I will send the whole page
to you.
RK.
