Sorry, the name Harriett is not among my Gwaltney names. Sarah Gwaltney was
the daughter of Benjamin Gwaltney and Rachel Jarrell.

Hello,

This morning I went to a meeting at Aspen Grove FWB Church. This
church is located in Wilson County. It is near the borders of
Pitt/Edgecombe/Wilson counties out from Fountain and Macclesfield, NC.
The date over the door of the church was 1887. They had beautiful
stain glass windows. I copied the following information from the windows.

A. J. Gardner 1880-1941 Given by wife and son
John (1878-1932)and Jane Gardner (1878-1921) Given by children
Robert Owens (1848-1928)Maude Owens Langley (1885-1936) Given By Family
John (1860-1940) and Martha Moore Speight (1859-1940) Given by Family
Morrison (1870-1940)and Nancy Webb (1874-1949) Given by Mary Webb Smith
William Rufus Owens (1866-1923) Given by wife and children
Alexander (1873-1926) and Nancy Hamilton (1880-1946)
J. B. (1869-1945 and Ida Owens (1876-1944)
B. F. (1861-1934) and Amanda Goff (1865-1927) Given by children
Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Killebrew Given by children
Willie Rom (2-1867 - 9-1949) & Delphia Moore Langle (12-1866 - 5-1952)
Given by Children

These windows certainly had a lot of information. I don't know any of
these people but thought they might be of interest to someone. Anyone
interested in genealogy is always looking at names and dates even if
they don't belong on their tree.

Judy,

Thanks for the information. I recognized some family members names.
William Rufus Owens, born January 22,1865, died February 13, 1923
was my Great grandfather, Robert Van Buren Owens, brother.
Willie Rom (William Romuliss) Langley, Born February 1867, died September
1949,
was my great grandmother, Rhoda Adelia Langley's, brother.
.(Added note: Rhoda Adelia Langley married Robert Van Buren Owens.)
The J.P. Killebrew, may have been my GGG Grandparents.
Joshua (middle name not know)and Sally Gay Mayo Killebrew had two daughters;
Emily (Ann) born 1835 and Barbara Elizabeth Killebrew, born 1840.
I wonder if this J.P.Killibrew was him?

Faye,
Thank-you for the posting.
Do you have any other info on Nancy Owens b abt 1800 d 7 Aug 1949
who mar Alexander Hamilton. Possible counties Edgecombe, Pitt,
Greene,Wilson Counties.
Do you have the source for this Owens posting?
This is not my Owens line (I Think), trying to complete some loose
ends on the Dilda line.

Another set of Owens:
Joshus Rufus Owens is Lillie Mae Owens Cobb' daddy. She had two
known siblings Joseph and Virginia. Aunt Mae never said any thing
about an additional brother. This is my aunt thru marriage. We
know that Joshua and my granddaddy, Johnny Owens, were 4/5 cousins.
I am trying to establish a connection.
Would you be so kind to supply source for the siblings of Joshua and
Emma Core Etheridge.
Thanks for your kind consideration and time.

Betty

Linda,
You have been so very kind to share willingly The Owens research. I
show Josha Goodman Owens birth as 1859.

Do you have any info on Ann Whitley?

This is the Owens line where I have some type of kindship. John
Henry Owens (of the Aspen Grove Church area) b 1880 d Mar 22,1957 is
a possible link. I know we shared some kindsip thru them. My
grandaddy Johnny Andrew Owens was 4/5 cousins to Josh Owens b 1895.
This would make both John Henry Owens and Joshua Owens line the
same. Linda, are you showing any common ties to either Hillard
Owens or his wife Betsy Owens born 1820 and 1821 of the Edgecombe/
Wilson Counties group of Owens'?

George Patrick Owens b 14 August 1872 d 6 May 1945 married Mary
Elizabeth "Mollie" Dilda dau of Jonas and Louisiana Gardner Dilda.
Mollie was 1st cousin to my grandmother "Bettie" Elizabeth Matilda
Dilda Cobb.

Thanks for the sharing.

then came into its own in 1785. Palmer also helped to organize the
Falls of the Tar River Baptist Church at Rocky Mount (1757) and the
Toisnot Church (1756). As they had no pastor, they called on Elder
Joshua Barnes who served as an occasional pastor. In the year 1803,
there were 62 members, with Edler JoshuaBarnes presiding. The Journal

Faye,
Thank You for all the hard work, but this is my family and I have
completed most of the work on this end of the chain. I need to
progress to the parents of Hillard and Betsy Owens and see what links
them to James Gray Owens and Barbara Killebrew Owens.

I'm so glade you have not entered the info into you data storage for
some of the information is incorrect. My mother is Lizzie Mae Owens
Cobb. She only has four sisters. There is an article in: Wilson
County and It's Families 1985, which gives the correct information. I
wrote the article. Since all of my Aunts are living, it might be wise
not to post their birthdates.
I will send correction on Monday.

Thank you for your kind consideration. Is this line of the Owens
family related to your family?

Betty

Does anyone know if Mille was Dempsey's wife? Looking at the age of

unsure of the relationship of

Dear Elizabeth,
These Moores are among my Moore ancestors. The
August 2005 PCFR Genealogical Quarterly has some
additional information on them from wills and from a
Moore family Bible. I do not have my Quarterly with me
at school today, but I can grab it and bring it along
with me tomorrow morning. Let me do some checking
online, and I will see if I can find out where in Pitt
County they settled. Some of the early census records
give the birthplace of each member of every family.
That is where much of our information about these
early descendants comes from. I have to admit that
despite years of research through both on-line and
published sources I still have glaring gaps, but I am
always delighted to share what I have. Later, Carol

by Benjamin Gay witnessed by M. Hearn.
1850: Speight Twp. Greene County Fed. Cen., Enum. 6th day of Sept.
1850: HH 402/402 Jesse Owen, age 65, Laborer, Martha Owen, age 60.
