Trying to locate the birth place of Fredrick John
(Fred)Block, belilve that he was born in Van Horne, Iowa
around 1900. Where would the birth records at that time.
His father is Julius Block and Julliette (Galt)
Block.
Hi Cheryl!<br><br>The best place to start is with
yourself and work your way back. After writing down
everything you know about yourself move on to your parent
and then your grandparents.<br><br>Be sure to
interview you oldest living relatives as soon as possible!
Ask them questions like: When were you born? What
were your parents names? Where have you lived? What
are you siblings names? When did you get married?
When and where did your parents die? Ask if there is a
family bible that you could see.<br><br>Hope this
helps!<br><br>CJ
My first to this club...I have always been
fascinated with names and geneaology...which brings me to my
current situation...I am tryin to find the origin of the
name BASHIOUM... I have done several searches on the
net but have not had any luck...please help me if any
one knows anything...or a site that can direct me to
the info....I have tried many but help if you know
anything<br>Thanks<br>tcoon
on the left hand side of the opening page under
our pages, see a listing of Links, go into this and
print it out, it is VERY helpful..Also what have you
tried, and where is this name from,in the US? What
state, or town? Our members are great and there are
several sites I can think of, they are geneanet.com,
ancestry.com, familyhistory.com, there are people in the club
that can suggest other sites. Oh yes, rootsweb.com
also. There are numerous message boards you can go into
and leave information and find (sometimes) help.
o.k.? Val. bridget
Cheryl: CJ gave you some good information. Put
the information on the internet like you did before
.Give surnames and that might catch someones eyeand
might have information. I like to include my e-mail
address so they might contact me easier. I found one of
13 branches on the internet because I saw the name
Celestia. Good Luck Bill Mathews mathnews@...<br>P.S.
The name of the state where relatives might be from
would also help.
If you find a grave site of a distant relative
and you would like to find them, sometimes you can
locate them by leaving a note on the site in 2 plastic
bags and sealed with your name and address and e-mail
address with some information. I have located 2 of my
grandfathers brothers this way.....Bill Mathews

Actually, I had thought about doing that. My
grandmother had family here. All deceased, but someone
decorates the grave. I have been thinking about leaving a
message on the gravesite. Just never did. Believe I will
next year. Thanks.<br>Suny
Genealogy Today (www.genealogytoday.com) is
pleased to announce that it is the new host for the
StateGenSites database of over 20,000 genealogy links.
<br><br>Launched on October 7, 1999 by Michelle Rich and Bill
Hocutt (with technical assistance from Tom Sluder), the
SGS database started as an in-depth study of Alabama
(by Bill) and Pennsylvania (by Michelle). It has
since become one of the largest directories for U.S.
genealogy, categorizing links by state within 27 categories.
<br><br>After two years of incredible growth, the SGS database
will now become part of the Online Genealogy Index,
and continue to be maintained by Michelle Rich. "Our
database helps amateur genealogists quickly find
information on their family roots around the country,"
commented Michelle. "Merging with Genealogy Today will help
us continue to provide a quality service for years
to come." <br><br>"It will be a genuine pleasure to
continue working with Michelle," explained Bill Hocutt,
co-founder of StateGenSites. "The database she has built is
one of the best online and one that I constantly use.
Not to mention she makes a mean Tortilla Soup."

so how does this work? I went to this web site
and it just let me vote not search, that does not
seem right to me. Then they said they will be sending
me weekly notes of the most popular web pages? I
have NO interest in TV and Book sites and do not want
that stuff in my email. This is not a search engine
people, If you want a good search engine try
<a href=http://www.google.com target=new>http://www.google.com</a> this best
site thing is not for me.<br>genzi
hi I believe this is how it is done. You see the
list of our pages on the top left as you face the
screen? go into members and if you haven't you need to
put in your surnames there, otherwise they would
eventually get zapped off. o.k. bridget..
The Club Surname List is the first entry in our
"links". Nothing has been added to it since April 13,
2000. As per the instructions there, I sent my surname
list to Tolksteel a long time ago. Nothing has
happened. Am I missing something here?<br><br>The members
list is just that, a members list. I put my surnames
in the comments section when I joined the club. Most
haven't done that. If I hadn't put the surnames there,
what would be there to be zapped off, and who would do
the zapping? I'm not being a wise guy about this, I'd
just like to find out how to get this done
correctly.<br><br>Btw, this is a very large club. It would really help
if people posting about certain surnames would put
those names in the "post subject area". That would
really catch the eye of anyone searching for one of
those surnames, and let them skip over a non-specific
surname post, such as this.
NBCi has been having major problems for -
literally weeks - I can't get through, not even to my email
address there - they are supposed to be changing
something, but it's reached the point of being ridiculous -
they have to be losing a lot of sponsors - I sent mail
to a "migration" address they provided - it was
returned as being "full" -<br>can only keep plugging away
at it and hope they will eventually - ultimately -
get it fixed.
butchreynolds~<br> I'm sure you did send you
surnames to Tolksteel...... <br> But she has recently went
through a rough dilvery of her new son...and both are
having rough times.<br> You might to want to resend your
information to her again...as things might have gotten lost
in cyber space,or she just didnt see it.<br> For
myself I am on vacation to the States right now from
Germany....and I am not at my own computer for the moment, and I
do apologise for now being here as much as
possiable.<br> Just hang in
there....please.<br><br>Katie<br>Founder
Willkommen zu der Vereinigen Staaten (sp??),
Katie. Is this your first trip??? And what parts are you
getting to see??? I wrote a German gentleman on another
genealogy list I'm on who offered to help with German
ancestors but he has not replied to 3 messages. So maybe
you can answer my last message to him: Do the Kampes
have a bad reputation in Germany???? I am trying to
think of reasons he has not replied and thought the
name Kampe turned him off.<br><br>Linda
What part of Germany is the Kampe from? I will
certainly ask around on the name for ya.<br> I know for
myself I am searching the Kruse name in Germany.<br><br>
LOL..I am American, my spouse and I are stationed in
Germany (Army)<br><br>Katie
