Would you list you name and email address so I can cite you as a reference
source? I have my tree on ancestry . com and working out kinships from DNA
matches at two different companies. There is an In Common With list for my Tate
match which we have found our common ancestor who is Henry Tate. It would help
us to see where others fit in to the Tate family or not.

Regards,
Sylvia

I forgot to mention that my father died in a boating accident in September 1959
in Egmont BC with my two brothers William Grafton (8) and Donald James (6).
The middle name Grafton apparently comes from a relative.  He had
been divorced 3 times, had a daughter June who I met once and a son named
Albert Pelkey who was raised in Saskatchewan.  He died in a car accident 8
years later in Saskatchewan.  He had 3 kids.  I don't remember their names.
I have not been able to track down anything on Al Pelkey either.

My father had a relative who we called Mother Fowler and she always dressed in
black.  That is about all I know.

My father's name was William James Marshall.  I have my parents marriage
certificate.  Per that, my father was 38 (20 years older than my mother) on
April 20th, 1948.  So I am guessing he was born in 1910.

Per their marriage certificate, his father was William James Marshall and his
mother was Mary Grayson.  He was a logging Engineer at L&M Logging Company in
Spring Creek Logging Company at Harrison Lake BC at the time.

My mother was born in Edmonton, Alberta to Archibald McCallum and Helen
Atkinson.  I have a bunch of information on my grandmother and it is very
interesting how she ended up in Canada as she was born in Niagara Falls, NY.

So I'm only looking for a death cetertificate or a burial permit., that would
tell me how she died so young. Sarah Taylor (1892-1922) moved to the Detroit
area (from Canada) after the death of her husband who died in 1919. She had 5
children. A family biography says, "Three years later Sarah died at work at the
Ford Motor company." That would be 1922. No I don't know what month. She is NOT
on the following genealogybank, Archives.com, Acceess Newspaper Archives,
familysearch, Hertiagequest, findagrave usa, findagrave Canada, or seeking
Michigan. It appears all entries on Ancestry. Are censuses and the Sarahs are
with husbands. What does it mean she died at work?? Is there a Ford Motor
Library with this type of information? Anymore suggestions??

Arriving in the United States in 1907, and presuming that
they were officially emigrating, then:
(1) there should be an older arrival record for Francois Langlois;
(2) the family should appear in the 1910 census (and after);
(3) there should be naturalization records, at least for Francois;
(4) there are possibly WW1 draft registration cards for the sons.
NOTE: the surname will very possibly be variously missspelled:
the spellings will often be phonetic versions of the target surname.

Hi, Kathy
I am glad to meet another Tate relative. You can be sure my ancestor chart is
right as far as the Henry Tate/Saraj Netherland. The rest of that line is a
working file.
I have a FamilyFinder tested cousin who matches me on our common ancestor 6th
ggf Henry Tate, etc. from both of our research. Let's keep in touch.

Regards,
Sylvia

I have a number of Texas historical books (all in the public domain) that I want
to post online at the Texas homepage (or where applicable on the county pages)
at TrailsToThePast.org. The books are primarily in PDF (Adobe Acrobat) format.
I can convert them to text format. I am looking for help with the
editing/proofing/formatting of each text version of an article/biography to
ensure they match the PDF format.

We are currently working on "Types of Successful Men of Texas" by L. E. Daniell.
The website for the book at TTTP is
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txtttp/tosmotx.html.

If you think you would be interested in helping, please email me at
charlie.vines@... and I will provide you with more information, a
biography (text format) and the link to the PDF version of the book (online). If
you have questions, please send them to the same e-mail address.

So far I have four responses from postings on other sites. One may come on
board after the first of the year, two ask are more info (sent info and one
biography to 'play with', and one is actively working (completed eight items in
a week).

This is a volunteer project with no pressure or deadlines. You will work as
your time/schedule permits.

Here's my Tate line - what I have, anyway:
James Tate 1638 - 1727 (Charles River, VA) and Elizabeth Dandridge
James Tate 1662 - 1726 (Louisa County, VA) and Anne Upham
Robert Tate 1691 - 1759 (Campbell County, VA), and Anne (last name unknown)
James Tate 1718 - 1776 (Louisa County, VA) and Abigail (last name unknown)
Uriah Tate 1746 - abt 1805 (Louisa County, VA) and Elizabeth Graves
John Tate 1774 - 1820 (Elbert County, GA) and Sarah "Sally" Poindexter
Genoa Tate 1802 - 1875 (Henry County, GA) and Micajah Jones
Genoa and Micajah were my 2great grandparents

I looked at the information I have on the siblings of my Tates and it looks like
the mostly were in Virginia and Georgia.  I see a Jesse C. Tate, son of Uriah
Tate and Elizabeth Graves, who died in Shelby County, TN. in 1840.  Another son,
Enos C., died in Limestone Co., Alabama.
