New book on Narcissa, Oklahoma was launched in July:

Narcissa Oklahoma Through the Years: Life Along the Mother Road - Route 66, by
Luretta E. Armagost Williams, 2009. approx. 275 pages, 8.5x11", full color
perfect (softbound) book, includes subject index, photos, maps, newspaper
clippings. (available before July 1, 2009) AD2301-$40.00

Years in the making, the much anticipated release of the first book dealing with
the history and people of the Narcissa area is now in the hands of the
publisher. Printed in very limited edition, this book will soon be available.
The large format, softbound book contains families of the Narcissa area, early
history, newspaper items, photos, maps and index.

Introduction to the Book

The book came about as a result of my interest in history and families of the
area. This was fostered by my parents and particularly my father, John
Armagost. Both my parents kept various types of records, photos and notes over
the years and these were a springboard for me. My dad often wrote articles for
the local newspaper, sharing historical information and this encouraged me to
look at our history, while also looking forward.

For some time I considered how to best present the most information about the
Narcissa community and its' people, in the small space of a book. The idea was
to preserve as much of the history as possible in one location.

With an interest in genealogy, history, and scrap-booking, the idea of simply
presenting the information in the form of newspaper articles, photos, and family
stories began to take shape. Therefore, this book is presented in the current
form. There are four sections to the book, beginning with the church since the
Baptist Mission came first. It is followed by community and school sections.
The subject index reflects the focus of the collection. Therefore, it can not
and should not be considered an every name and every place index.

This is an historical sketch that contains information from many sources. In
each case, all efforts have been made to preserve the original spellings of
names, places and things as they were submitted or found by the author. However,
there are many cosmetic changes this author has made that should make it easier
on you, the reader. For example, in place of various decades of "current
accepted" state abbreviations, every effort has been made to spell out each
state in all material prepared for this manuscript. In contrast, necessarily,
every photo representation of original documents, sites, or original material
has remained untouched in their content. All names and native words, have
remained intact. Due to the size of this project, the reader is still sure to
find at least some other typographical errors. Feedback is welcome on such
items so future editions can eliminate errors.

By no means should this book be considered the full history of the Narcissa
area. It is merely my attempt to record what information was available to us.
No doubt there will be unintentional errors, as is often the case in such
compilations. Since many who were approached for family information did not
come forth, it is entirely possible that those families may not be fully
represented.

All in all, it is the hope of this writer that what has been preserved in this
book will be enjoyed by the reader. I would encourage others to seek more
family and historical materials and to find a way to preserve them for the
future.

Luretta Armagost Williams

Announcing the publication of a new genealogy book, the Family Letter Album of
the Rowley & Cheney Family, by Irene Rowley, featuring the lives of the
blacksmith Daniel Rowley (1782-1842), of Brandon, Vermont and Freeport,
Pennsylvania, his wife Polly Cheney (1786-1866), and their immediate families.

This is a 76-page softcover, professionally bound book. It includes:
Full-page scans of Daniel and Polly's original deeds and letters, dating from
1807 to 1856. I've scanned the originals, and am displaying them for the first
time. I've also carefully transcribed each document with new research, and
added new local history details. The letters contain many details on the Cheney
family of Brandon, Vermont, and mention many Rowley's acquaintances around
Freeport, Pennsylvania.
Antique photos of some direct descendents.
Antique pictures from Brandon and Freeport.

HOW TO ORDER
This book is available directly from the publisher, Lulu.com. You may order
through my storefront at Lulu's, at the following web address:

Thanks for that link. I had no idea that these were selling so cheaply

Thank you for sending the info on your binder for sale.  If I were you and had
this item for sale, I think I would contact some Library near you .  Now I know
that there is a binder in Des Moines, IA that some Libraries here use, but other
than that, you should perhaps contact someone in the phone books.
I myself might be interested in re-binding about 10 of my Lickiss book, because
it is done in coil binding, but my health isn't good enough to tackle a project
now.  Thanks for sending the info.  I enjoyed reading your Email Mildred

Due to a move, I have to do some serious downsizing and this must go because I
don't do
genealogy research any more.

I am selling a *_GBC Electric Velobinder_*

This has _never been out of the box_. It will punch up to 20 sheets of
paper at a time and bind documents from 2 pages to 200 pages. It
includes complete instructions.

Along with the binding system, I have a box of 25 binding strips and 8
packages of punched & scored presentation covers (25 sets per
package...that' s 200 cover sets). The covers are medium blue and the
binding strips are dark blue.

This is perfect for an individual wanting to publish some family histories for
family reunions, local libraries, etc. It would also be great for small
genealogical societies that want to self publish cemetery records, etc. If you
price the binder and accessories, you will find that this is a great bargain for
a brand new system.

I would like $130.00 plus shipping for this set. I will accept Paypal
or a postal money order. I can ship by UPS or USPS Parcel Post. Just
send me your zipcode and shipping preference and I can get you a quote
for shipping.

Feel free to e-mail me with any questions. Thanks.

Kristina

take to the library for scanning notes. You just hold it in your hand like a
pen and roll over the lines of text that you want to scan. The text will be
stored in the pen and when you get home, you can hook it to your computer and
transfer the text notes to your computer. It will also work directly when
connected to the computer. You can sit at your computer and scan text directly
into it. It is a fun and useful little tool.

The pen requires 2 AAA batteries to operate. Features are:

     * Fully portable handheld pen scanner
     * Scans full lines of text in 8 languages
     * Stores up to 1,000 pages of text
     * Transfers text to PC, laptop, PDA, or cellular phone
     * Supports memory upgrades

Included are the Quick Link pen with protective case, manual, software,
and a 9-pin serial connector Quick Link cable. The pen has been very
gently used and is in like-new condition. There are not even any
scratches on the LCD display.

I am selling for $45.00 + shipping charges and insurance cost (if
desired). Please contact me, if interested.

Thanks
Kristina

First of all, I am not a book dealer...just a dedicated genealogist who
has WAY too much stuff! I have moved to a much smaller home with a MUCH
smaller office and I must get rid of most of my things.

I have for sale 6 sets of CD's that contain Pedigree Resource Files that have
been submitted to the LDS church. These are lineage-linked pedigrees and they
contain the unedited notes and sources. There are literally millions of
individuals on these CDs. Each set contains 5 CDs and a master index for that
set, but the last set has a comprehensive index for all 30 of the CDs. I would
like to sell them all together. These would be nice for a genealogy society
library or for your own personal reference. They are all in the original cases
and have very little use...in fact, many of the CDs have never been accessed or
even removed from their folder. They require Windows 95 or above to run.

I would like $80.00 + shipping and insurance (if desired). I can ship by media
mail, if that is your preference, which should not be too expensive. I accept
Paypal or a money order. Please contact me, if interested.

Thanks
Kristina

I have for sale a great book for introducing children to genealogy. The title

story book, but a 179 page, complete introduction to genealogy. It is written
on about a 4th grade level. Great for the budding genealogist. Children can
learn to conduct and interview, decipher old-fashioned handwriting, interpret
names, track down relatives, dig up documents, use archives, and compile a
family tree. Included in the book:

     * Pedigree Chart
     * Family  Group  Sheet
     * Correspondence Log
     * Where to Write for Birth and Death Records
     * Guide to the National Archives Regional System

I would like $6.00 + shipping. I can ship by media mail, if desired, which
should be quite inexpensive. I prefer a money order but will accept Paypal for
$.50 extra to help defray cost of fees. Please contact me, if interested.
