Description

Welcome! This forum is for discussion on automotive engine conversions in experimental aircraft. We welcome spirited and respectful discussion and debate, and encourage the sharing of information regarding the challenges of converting automobile engines for aircraft use. We have developed a spur gear PSRU with an automatic centrifugal clutch which has proven to be a realistic and reliable drive for our aircraft and invite our customers to participate in this newsgroup as well. Our experience is with the LS Series of Chevrolet Corvette engines, early model small block Chevrolet engines, For 4.3L V6 and 351 Windsor. We have also converted our Geared Drive PSRU for V12 BMW. Please visit our website at www.geareddrives.com and sign up for updates!

Geared Drives was well represented at Oshkosh 2010 as Bud Warren flew the Ravin 500 from the Houston area, as did Bill and Lynell Gipson in their RV-10. Both aircraft are powered by the Geared Drives FWF LS1 engine package. Bud reported a wonderful flight highlighted by engine temperatures in the 165-170 degree F range! More photos to come...
