Ashram West is a non-profit, gay spiritual community based on the teachings of traditional Hindu Tantra adapted for gay-identified persons. The newsletters usually contain a short essay addressing some aspect of mystical, tantric spirituality from a gay-centered perspective and also any special announcements from Ashram West or Ashram West Books.

The Ashram West Logo (right) shows the Sanskrit syllable OM, an ancient Hindu word for the divine Self, in the center. The interlocked triangles are a Tantric symbol that represents the integration of spirit and matter and of male and female (which are also symbols of Consciousness in its static and dynamic aspects respectively). The circle and square both represent spiritual wholeness as they manifest in the mind and in the outer world respectively. The message is that one may experience the divine Self and manifest spiritual wholeness by integrating spirit and matter, male and female within oneself and in the world.
