Hello,

The Kingdom is alive and well, though not very active in recent times.
To see updates on what is going on in general, I refer you to read the
Gayzettes in the file section. We do our best to publish quarterly
during the current period and under the current circumstances.

To give a brief ad hoc update, the government has three councils active
and functioning in varying degrees: The Royal Council, the Governing
Council, and the Advisory Council.

1) In recent times, the Royal Council has been active with the greatest
regularity. As a member of this council, I can say that we have been
meeting monthly until last December, and now meet about every six
weeks. The council is involved in both research and preparation for the
moment a new Parliament is seated, but its mandate is primarily focused
on the Crown and the Monarchy along with matters and areas that involve
both Crown and Monarchy. Several projects have been put forward and
adopted that include the creation of a society within the Kingdom.

2) The Constitutional Committee of the Governing Council has been
actively involved in both historical research and construction of a new
Constitution that reflects both the long term goals of the Kingdom and
the needs of our people world wide. Our goal has been a document that
considers both short term as well as long term needs of the government
and reflects the true nature of our Constitutional Monarchy. The
document is in it's final review cycle, with the kind assistance of the
Royal Council, and its supporting Organic Laws are currently being written.

The Historical Committee of the Governing Council is finishing the
compilation of the history of the Kingdom since its inception and
creation, and through all of its tribulations. This is being done by a
member of the current government that was involved during those times
and with those governments. Once the project has been completed, the
information will be formatted and loaded on the new web site.

Once the Constitution is completed, filed, and posted, along with its
supporting Organic laws, we will proceed with the re-vitalization of
Parliament, and hold elections planned for sometime this year. This new
Constitution will be a Renaissance of the Kingdom!

The government is moving forward, and all of us appreciate the
continuing support of our friends...

Hi

is anyone living on the island?  I would like to make a move from my current location and would be interested in knowing if it is possible to relocate there.

Are there any rules on bringing pets?  What paper work do you need to fill in before relocating?  What services are there on the island, if any?

Janet

Strike,

I don't know about American University, but the last one had to do with
a presentation at UCLA.

I had asked a friend that teaches at UC Berkeley to find out through UC
channels whether a copy of the paper was available. He was told the
paper had not been published and was not available in the public
domain. I assume the author did not want to share. The e-mail of the
group was provided in the event the author changed his mind.

As far as the content and quality of the paper all I know is that it was
academic in nature, but what that means in fact, I cannot be certain. I
did make a separate request under my official capacity representing the
Kingdom, but that did not sway the author...

Janet,

Cato Island is an atoll more than an island. It is far from the coast
and outside major shipping lanes. It has marginal vegetation no higher
than 3 feet, and outside of an automated weather station, no habitable
buildings. It would take a great amount of work to make the island
habitable and very expensive to maintain. Everything needs to be
shipped in and refuse shipped out. There is no fresh water source
outside of the occasional rain, and a desalinization plant could not be
built do to the space constraints. The ecosystem is fragile. There is
no room for grazing animals and no food for them to graze on, so
livestock is out of the question. The sole food source would be ocean
based.

An air strip could be built, but it would take up more space than
practical, making a water landing the only feasible option.
Transportation from the mainland at Brisbane is more expensive that a
casual trip to Melbourne.

Cato is not what you may envision. Some of us involved in the
Government discussed an official trip to Cato some years past, but the
expense was prohibiting, as none of us can afford such luxuries. Some
day, I may find a way there during one of my trips to Australia...

If you are interested in living on an island in the Coral Seas, there a
jobs on some of the resorts islands...

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

This makes it sound like "we" are claiming rights to Cato Island. I thought "we" had severed all ties to Dale and his claim to Australia's territory. What gives?

Hello,

The matter of Cato is an old issue. When we succeeded from HRM Dale,
our Kingdom re-acquired everything outside the G&L Kingdom of the Coral
Sea allowing him and his Kingdom to operate separately from us in
whatever way he chose. Essentially, those are the facts.

My explanation to Janet was to provide an realistic ideal of Cato. HRM
Dale and I had several discussions along those lines about Cato prior to
the separation and a multitudes of ideals were exchanged with respect to
possibilities for the future. Most of those I believe would be
impractical for a multitude of reasons.

One such discussion I had with HRM Dale was in regards the problems
those not citizens of Australia in participating in claiming Cato. I
always felt that project needed to be done by Australians to avoid any
political ramifications utilizing Australian law as well as Commonwealth
Laws.

As far as "our" Kingdom is concerned, Cato is not our concern.

My name is Roger Keith and I'm just curious as I believe an effective government

Mr. Keith,

Thank you for the courtesy of identifying yourself.

Let me answer your question by referring you to Gayzette Volume 2 Number
20 of August 25 2005. In that publication you will find the reference
to Resolution MP-20050820-005, the Emergency Reorganization Act of 2005
(TERA2005), that was passed by the last Parliament and that placed the
current framework to reorganize the Government in place. The act calls
for the formation of a Governing Council composed of the Prime Minister,
President of Parliament, Deputy President of Parliament, and Chief
Justice. The current Chief Justice and Lord Chancellor is Mr. William
Freeman, ESQ. The Deputy President of Parliament is Mr. Louis Trusty.
At the time this Act was made into law, I was both President of
Parliament and Prime Minister. The Advisory Council (AC) is composed of
last members of the Privy Council: Mr. Joseph Grande and Mr. Jon
Matlick; Other former members of past governments may be invited to join
the AC in the future.

In response to serious concerns regarding both Crown and Monarchy, in
October 2005 (see Gayzette Volume 2 Number 22 August 2007) I convoked a
Conclave and created the Royal Council (RC). The mandate of the RC is
the protection of the Crown and the Preservation of the Monarchy. It
should be clear that the RC was created and is organized under the
Principles of Hermetics. All those that compose its membership are well
versed in various disciplines of Hermetic Sciences, and well suited for
the task at hand. The membership of the RC is private. Since I
convoked the first conclave, as a matter of record, I was selected to
act as the outer voice of the council. In matters the council
addresses, when I speak on behalf of the RC, I speak in all their names,
because the council speaks as one voice. If any of them chooses to
reveal their membership in the RC, it shall be their sole choice. The
RC will not involve itself with mundane matters of government and does
not intend get directly involved in legislative actions unless those
action threaten the Crown and Monarchy on any level. Once the
government is reconstituted, the RC will begin to move forward on
projects relating to the Monarchy that have tabled until the New
Constitution is completed and in place.

I appreciate your interest and hope this answers your questions. If you
have other questions or require further clarification, please let me know.

Thanks for the update on the paper. Would you have the author's contact? I was able to find this reference: http://www.humnet.ucla.edu/humnet/lgbts/events/LAQSC2008.html. Is the author seeking remuneration, perhaps?

Greetings to all,

I've just visited the internet archive of the GLK site, last updated late in
2007. The history of the kingdom, given there, has Dale I as Emperor. However,
on viewing the last few messages here, I find that the members (citizens?) of
the GLK who run this Yahoo! Group, represented by PM Enrique, have in the
interim "split" from "HRM Dale", and that Cato Island is no longer home to the
GLK.

Would someone please give me a run-down on these fascinating (and possibly
unfortunate) events? Or even links to a couple of relevant threads in this
group's messages.

Thanks for your attention.

Regards,
Yahya

Yahya,

Please read the Gayzettes as they are the sole official publication of
the GLK, and can provide you with the official historical record.

In short, due to an unfortunate situation that arose in the government,
the GLK did secede from HRM Dale. Without getting too involved here
with specifics, essentially we "spun off" the "GLK of the Coral Seas"
into a separate entity (GLKCS) along with it's Regent HRM Dale, after
which the "GLK" (this group) and the "GLKCS" (under HRM Dale) became two
separate sovereign entities. There is much work that HRM Dale must do
with regards to Cato in Australia along with fellow Australians under
the GLKCS banner. One of the issues around the Cato Island matter was
that those of us not domiciled in Australia under jurisdiction (and
protection) of both Australian and Commonwealth laws could have been
placed in legal jeopardy for participation.

Since we seceded, we have been in the process of reorganization.
Currently, the government remains active but subdued. We have three
active Councils: the Royal Council (Monarchy and Crown), the Advisory
Council, and the Governing Council (Government). Due to the global
economic recession-depression, many of our resources have been sporadic
causing our time line to be lengthened.

I hope this note, along with the Gayzettes, answer your questions.
Should you have further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Sincerely,

Enrique Pérez

Thanks for taking the trouble to clarify the matter. After googling "gayzette",
I discovered what I might have guessed: that they are published in the Files
section of this Yahoo! Group. Reading them in chronological order from around
mid-2005 certainly gave me a picture of the difficulties of the GLK from the
viewpoint of the present government. Since HIM Dale does not seem to have
commented, either on this group or on the GLK website, his view of the matter
can only be surmised.

The task of drafting (let alone reviewing) a Constitution is enormous, and
nobody can doubt the determination and effort of the present government (Royal
Council) shown by the progress reports in successive issues of the Gayzette. I
look forward to seeing the fruit of all these efforts, and trust the transition
phase will not endure too much longer, so that the GLK can begin to deliver on
its fundamental promise: providing a jurisdiction in which no connection is
assumed between a person's sexual orientation and his or her rights or
abilities.

Regards,
Yahya
