Does anyone even come into this club anymore? The
last post was, uh, June 4, 2001 by - uh -
me!

Maybe someone should just shut this club
down.

Unless (just a wild crazy idea here), you want to maybe
(perish the thought!) POST something here!
(hehehehehe!).

I know. I know. It's Feb. 15th and not exactly the
prime time for gardening in the Upper Midwest. But hey:
atleast in Des Moines, Iowa - I saw 2 robins yesterday,
temps are in the 50's, and the snow has melted. It is
acting like Spring here. Birds are flying N. in droves
now.

I feel like, by posting here, I have entered an
abandoned bombed out village. Nothing is here: not a
barking dog, no clothes hanging on the lines, no dinner
pots being cooked, no nothing. Just a shingle flapping
in the wind. Is the well poisoned? Is a lone woman
hiding behind a window?

I've seen too many
movies! (hehehehe!)

-----SixFive175@..., or

This club might be dead, or atleast it's in
advanced Alzheimer's with an iron lung and round the clock
nurse's care. The last 2 posts were: me in Sept. 2001;
and then Feb. 2001.

I go to page views, and
see that the only member who regularly logs in is,
uh, me. Occasinally, though, this club gets a
visitor.....but they see that there have been no posts, so no one
joins.

It's sad.

I'll stay on here, and I hope to
liven things up somehow. But I wonder if anyone even
READS this stuff
now.

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooo! Is anybody out there?

Maybe I
should draw
the curtains and put on some funeral music (like they
do with alot of small town radio stations around
here, during the day; this is Iowa!!!).

If you
can sit up, I've gone some broth for you. Otherwise,
we'll have to go intravenous again.

Ring the
bell if you need me.

-----SixFive175@...,

This club seems pretty dead. The last message was
on 2/19, some nine months ago. Wow!

Anyway,
my name is Doug. I'm 53 yrs. old (not 109 as in the
profile; hehehehe!): 6'5 1/2" and 190 lbs., brown hair and
balding. I live by myself here in Des Moines,
Iowa.

What can I do to liven this club up a
bit???

-----SixFive175@..., or else
Douggiepoo@...
sounds like a good idea... I've spent hours at
ParentsPlace.com scouring the boards for advice and guidance. I
learned a lot there, but most of what I learned came from
good old fashioned experience. I think I'm going to
look into parenting classes myself; didn't know such a
thing existed.

Mickey
If anyone has any pictures please post them. We
would also like to hear of any of your good and bad
stories of being a homemaker. Especially when your a gay
homemaker you might feel more of an outcast then you
normally might feel. I was hoping this club could be of
some sort of support system for us.
I heard of a gay family magazine called, "ALTERNATIVE FAMILIES". Has anyone else
ever heaed of this magazine? If not I will do a little research on it and let
you know more.
Thanks. I would love to see some pictures of your
lovely family. We just had our first family picture done
and I will have it scan as soon as my hubby shows me
how. I also understand adjusting to parenthood. I just
started a parenting class. I really enjoy it. It has made
me more confident that I am doing the right thing
with my partner's kids.
Thanks for joining. I am sorry I haven't been
able to get back to you yet, but I thought I had all
my messages from this club forward to my hotmail
address. I guess I see now that I had it set up wrong.
Once again thanks for joining and I will love to look
at your egroup.
I think that time will prevail. Surely, gay
homemakers online around the world will eventually find
their way here. I do believe; I do. Hope everything is
going great with you all. Life is typical here in
Houston, which is a good thing considering the holidays
were rough on us due to my mother going temporarily
insane. But she's fine now and so are we.

Mickey
We haven't had any pictures taken recently or
really ever. It's been so terribly overwhelming
adjusting to parenthood, that it's just one of those things
that haven't gotten done. However, if anyone in my
family has any pics from the recent holidays with us in
them, I will ask if I can scan them. I will be taking
pictures this Christmas... usually camcord, but our
program to cut and paste pics isn't working. Just easier
to scan, better quality too. Hope to get more people
in here... joined the Houston Gay & Lesbian Parents
Organization and I will be letting them know about this Yahoo
club.

Happy Holidays to your Family!
Mickey
Hi! I just joined. I have noticed a dearth of
clubs for the gay homemaker. I formed a club tonight,
infact, over in eGroups, called Gay Male Home And Garden.
It's at
http://www.egroups.com/group/GayMaleHomeAndGarden
, if you
want to join (and you're very welcome
to!).

Anyway, I'm one of those homebody domestic types. I'm
also single; I live by myself. I'm Doug: 6'5 1/2", 183
lbs., age 53 (yikes!), blonde/blue/balding. I live in
this house with my cat Hillary.

I really don't
know much about homemaking and gardening. That's
kind-of why I formed that eClub. I want to read, listen,
and learn. As it is, I mostly hire all that stuff
done.

Anyway, my club has been in existence 5 hours now and I
have 13 members!

I also manage two other clubs
in eGroups:

1. Older Skinny Gay Males: 109
members now; has been in existence since Nov. 20; go to
http://www.egroups.com/group/OlderSkinnyGayGuys

2. Gay
Males Who Love Cats; 29 members; has been in
existence about one week; go to:
http://www.egroups.com/group/GayMalesWhoLoveCats

Anyway,
you can kinda tell what interests me, I guess.

I added a picture of my family with Mary Wilson
from, "The Suppremes." I am the one in the white
t-shirt next to Mary in the gold Dress. My husband Steve
is behind me with glasses. Stevie our son is in
front of me and his sister,Sierra is next to him. The
guy holding the kid is some guy that works with
Steve. I hope you enjoy the picture. You can post
pictures of your gay families also.
The kids just call me by my name, Ken. We haven't
told them we are a gay couple yet. They have been
living with us for five years so they probably already
know. But we were waiting for them to come up to us and
start asking questions. Then we will sit down and
explain everything to them as a family. Our kids ages are
9 and 11. Sometimes I wish they will start asking
questions soon so we can get the truth out. But thier dad
still wants to wait.
Wow... I thought I was supposed to have the
power, but as it turns out... I get to feed, bathe,
wipe, read, play with, educate and answer why? and how
come? all day long. He only does what I want him to do
when I spank him, otherwise he tries to be sooo cute
and it works (but I don't tell him.) Turns out,
Maurice "daddy" only has to yell once and he listens. My
house is dusted less regularly and I have fallen behind
on the laundry. Trying to get him to stop calling me
"mommy" whenever possible, teaching him to call me pa...
which he variates every so often, but without thinking
yells "mommy!" at the drop of a hat. oh yay... gotta
love it. Do your kids call you mommy too or what terms
are used in your home?

Mickey
You guys must have a big heart to adopt your brother's child. That's great that
you were able to take him under your wings. There should be more people like you
guys.
I'm updating my website a bit, but Ritchie is the
only child on my gallery page that is ours. The other
children are our nephews and nieces. Maurice and I have
known one another for 10 years, but have only been
living together for 5 of them. Ritchie was born to my
youngest brother and his wife Janice in November of 95, a
couple of months after Maurice and I moved in together.
They weren't able to care for him so we adopted him,
only my parents thought Maurice and I were too young,
irresponsible and selfish ourselves to raise a child, because
we went out to clubs, drank alcoholic beverages and
were slobs at home. My parents gained custody of him
in court and raised him until recently when they
realized we were capable of doing so and they were too old
to do it. She seemed to have exaggerated our
lifestyle quite a bit and one day I invited her to my house
to see how we really live. Pictures of Maurice and I
were hanging on walls and sitting on shelves,
shamelessly displaying our "couplehood". She realized that we
had not only calmed down a lot, but really evolved as
peopl. We didn't just seem to be, we WERE a normal
married couple and now Ritchie is back with us full time.
He's 4 now and will turn 5 on Nov. 25. The banner at
the bottom of my web pages are a requirement from
Geocities and I have no control over what generates on
them, it changes every day I think. I was raised a
Catholic, but we consider ourselves Christian/Jewish...
since Maurice is Jewish we celebrate both traditions.
For the most part, we're a hoky, wholesome, typical
American family... and I've gotten used to being called
mom which I totally couldn't get Ritchie to stop
calling me... so oh well. sigh.
I scoured the internet most of Thursday evening
and could not find any gay homemaker resources out
there. I went to gay.com and they did have good articles
and a home & family section which touched a little on
the subject, but not nearly enough. Guess, I just
have to keep on trying.

M.
