I only buy physical books. They don't need batteries.

Just as a note, Amazon's Kindle format is Mobipocket format with DRM added. The DRM can be removed with easily-available tools, leaving you a .mobi file....

Honestly, I've found some of the "fantastic gamebooks for the I-whatever devices" to be annoying. Animated transitions, dice that bounce around, and so forth...
