The University of Texas at Arlington would like to announce a job opening for
Astronomy Lab Supervisor.
Purpose of Position: The Lab Supervisor is resonsible for oversight of the
development, supervision, presentation and training for the astronomy
laboratories and planetarium based laboratories.
Essential functions Supervise astronomy labs. Manage operation and
administration of lab, oversee equipment maintenance, and preparation of
laboratory setups. Develop and implement new experiments and instructional lab
planetarium activities. Support instructional programs associated with the
astronomy laboratories. Maintain major instrumentation and equipment. Support
lab section teaching activities and instruct/prepare teaching assistants, as
required. Train and supervise student laboratory assistants. Collaborate with
Planetarium Director in public outreach and functions of the planetarium.
Maintain involvement in professional activities, including visits to McDonald
Observatory, workshops, and related activities. Participation in activities
related to the Planetarium.
Required qualifications Bachelor's degree. Astronomy laboratory experience.
Computer programming competency. Ability to use standard office equipment,
personal computer, Microsoft Office, and standard physics laboratory equipment.
