It seems simple on the surface but a planetarium is probably one of the most
challenging environments to try to photograph. I've seen seasoned professionals
with thousands of dollars of high end still and video cameras turn into
quivering blobs trying to get it right -- and usually failing. I once spent
three hours with a TV crew and Campbell Brown from the Today show trying to tape
something about astrology. The lot of it ended up on the cutting room floor.
In many cases it's just easier to take two photos, one for the images on the
dome and one for the people in the foreground and photoshop them together.
