Dear Friends,

With tremendous sorrow, I am writing to inform our community that Vickie White,
former Board of Education member and community activist, passed this morning,
suffering a massive heart attack. Council president Elsie Foster Dublin will
send further notice about funeral arrangements, which I will then share via this
list.

I knew Vickie as a passionate, persistent, dedicated activist for those less
fortunate, someone who went as far as to lead missions to New Orleans to rebuild
in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. She dedicated her life to building a more just
society and at the same time expressed extreme devotion to her family, acting as
a parent to her nieces and nephews. Hers is a devastating loss to our community.
