This Xi response on cats Vs. mice message.
FYI.. And many thanks to xi again and again..
And BTW the English "poor" fighting at that time were masked by religion.. So the English homeless and refugees, street alies claimed being Protestants, and they fought the ellites of the society that they were CATHOLICS.. So the thieves used religion to take over.. Something similar is now happening in Iraq with the Bush_Bama assistance

xi says:

Thank you very much Sumerian. Your message and your example, cats and
rats, clearifies a lot.

This fight is much more clear in USA than in Europe and, of course,
than in Japan where that fight does not exist nowadays.

Let me start with a question: Who is in charge in a bank, i.e. in Citi
group? its owner or its CEO? the families that control 30% (or above)
of its capital with political rights? or the high executives? Who
makes the big decissions?

Some people might say: Owners do, they can fire executives if they
want. Other people might answer: legally owners do, but in fact,
executive do everything and decide everything as long as owners
receive their profits. A third group of people might answer: who
cares? they always agree.

My answer is that it is not clear nowadays who own banks, carmakers,
or any other corporation unless those that are based on founders and
their families. But it is more clear in banks.

And more important. They disagree because they have different
interests, different goals, and different strategies. They fight for
the power to make those goals come true.

We should not use the word "they". Which of those two groups are
"they"?

As usual, this is not a fight for wealth, it is a fight for power. For
the absolute power to make their goals to come true. And their goal is
power.

It reminds the fight in England 300 years ago between conservative
landowners (rural aristocracy) and emerging capitalists (urban factory
owners). Now it is a fight between capitalists (bigger shareholders)
and emerging executives. 300 years ago in England some landowners
became capitalists, now some capitalists become executives and some
executives become capitalists, those corporations where owner and
executive is the same person look more stable (Microsoft and Gates
till one year ago, Berkshire and Buffet, etc.).

It is not a global fight. In some countries power is clear (China,
Russia).  In other countries that fight is not in place (Japan,
Saudia). In other economic areas (Eurozone) that fight is just
starting. That fight is clear only in USA.

As landowners in England 300 years, nowadays capitalists control
formal institutions (Bank of England, Fed, etc.), the institutions
that formally control their economy. Executives control Wall Street.

Which side will support Main Street? any? Maybe this time Main Street
can make a difference, maybe Main Street can create their own economy
this time.

This is part of the transiton phase between one civilization and the
next one. Time of turbulence.

China is just a spectator of that fight.

Peace and best wishes.

Xi

Somehow this is a reply to your message, Sumerian, in

It looks that the old joke became reality.. : Q: How to create a self sufficient business? A: Let cats eat  rats, then kill some cats to feed the rats and so on.. Sell tanned cats skins..

Now.. I am afraid apart from the serious academic analysis that pops up around the globe, that the thieves are using much more simpler methods than our estimations.. We are possibly giving the thieves a credit they don't deserve

Very worrying also if it will be on global scale, to contain efforts of nations by the Banks Lobby. (Bank of England on top, in addition to one of its main subsidiaries: The US Federal Reserves)..

So we can imagine that efforts of China will all be contained in this same manner, similar to what happened to Japan, which finally became part of big Western Banker millers.

Is THIS how the bank bailout money is being used?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eSVIXQzsFs

PS: Thanks to Rebel and Xi..

And here is the comment of Xi on the above link:

Of course. He treats several topics. Let us go one by one:

1.- Where is the bank bailout money utimately going?

Of course, most of them go to hedge funds affiliated to banks, to
their subsidiaries, etc. in order to fill their holes and their
losses. My question is: is it a surprise? It is a bank bailout, that
is what a bank bailout is. Everybody knew it since the very begining
of the Toxic Assets Relief Program, it is to fill what toxic assets
substracted from their balance sheets.

Once their balance sheets are recovered they could start to supply
credit again starting from scratch. In theory, they will pay back with
future profits if they get profits one day.

2.- 2010 budget a big scam?

I guess they mean next budget, the Obama s budget. Not the previous
one.

To be honest I do not know how this budget has been communicated to
Americans. My perception is that it has not been communicated at all,
but I can be wrong. There are experts on US Federal budget as it is
probably the most spaghetti-alike budget that any coyntry in the world
has, if I made myself understood. I have read that next budget seems
to be very similar to any other US budget in the past. If it has been
communicated as the solution to this crisis it is not true, of course,
but maybe it has been the usual politic "exhuberance of messages" or
maybe a scam, I cannot know sorry.

In any case the solution to this crisis will not come from any budget
because economic authorities cannot know now what they might need
within coming months. There are too many scenarios, too many risks
arounds and nobody can know for sure how they all will behave. The
solution must come if necesary from off-budget  (such as further
stimulous) or from financial policies such as higher indebtness or on
the contary from sudden and dramatic cut of expenditures depending on
which risks US economy faces within next months.

As he tells, and as usual in all US budgets, the defense budget is one
of the main reasons of this crisis (if not the main one) and it does
not change in this budget.
.
3.- Privatization of transport network and other governmental assets.

It might be. What he tells is a potential scenario that makes sense.
But I cannot judge on intentions.

4.- The evil cycle banks-Fed-US government-US taxpayers.

That is absolutely true. But that happens when a country has a private
central bank that lends money to government at a certain interest. If
amounts are low it is moderately outrageous, if amounts are high (such
as a $1.5 trillions) it is 1.5 trillion times more outrageous.

About last comments about what they are going to do with that money I
cannot prejudge as I told. I can say that last months they used it to
fill their losses and right now they are mostly using that money (or
rather lending again with fresh money) mostly to fund carrytrade, but
it could end up from one day to the next one, as soon as the Fed
decides to change its policy.

It is related to my post "What exactly Bernanke aims? and what
Americans want"
http://groups.google.com/group/world-thread/browse_thread/thread/eff6c6f7c3c15634?hl=en#

I hope it helps. If not, please, somment here whatever you want.

Thanks a lot for your message, I guess it can help many people to
understand better what is happening.

Peace and best wishes.

With Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bush II around in 2007.. it was good times for Halliburton in Iraq, and now they are giving the way to BP and Exxon Mobil, who signed recently a robbery contract to suck Iraq's oil, after being expelled from Iraq in 1972.

Victim: Gang-Rape Cover-Up by U.S., Halliburton/KBR

KBR Told Victim She Could Lose Her Job If She Sought Help After Being Raped, She Says

A Houston, Texas woman says she was gang-raped by Halliburton/KBR coworkers in Baghdad, and the company and the U.S. government are covering up the incident.

Jamie Leigh Jones, now 22, says that after she was raped by multiple men at a KBR camp in the Green Zone, the company put her under guard in a shipping container with a bed and warned her that if she left Iraq for medical treatment, she'd be out of a job.

"Don't plan on working back in Iraq. There won't be a position here, and there won't be a position in Houston," Jones says she was told.

In a lawsuit filed in federal court against Halliburton and its then-subsidiary KBR, Jones says she was held in the shipping container for at least 24 hours without food or water by KBR, which posted armed security guards outside her door, who would not let her leave. Jones described the container as sparely furnished with a bed, table and lamp

"It felt like prison," says Jones, who told her story to ABC News as part of an upcoming "20/20" investigation. "I was upset; I was curled up in a ball on the bed; I just could not believe what had happened."

Finally, Jones says, she convinced a sympathetic guard to loan her a cell phone so she could call her father in Texas.

"I said, 'Dad, I've been raped. I don't know what to do. I'm in this container, and I'm not able to leave,'" she said. Her father called their congressman, Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas.

"We contacted the State Department first," Poe told ABCNews.com, "and told them of the urgency of rescuing an American citizen" -- from her American employer.

Poe says his office contacted the State Department, which quickly dispatched agents from the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad to Jones' camp, where they rescued her from the container.

According to her lawsuit, Jones was raped by "several attackers who first drugged her, then repeatedly raped and injured her, both physically and emotionally."

Jones told ABCNews.com that an examination by Army doctors showed she had been raped "both vaginally and anally," but that the rape kit disappeared after it was handed over to KBR security officers.

Girl, 5, was 'sold for sex, found dead in woods'

By MSN NZ staff
Tuesday, November 17, 2009
Shaniya Davis

A US five-year-old girl prostituted by her mother has been found dead in woodland just one week after she was seen on security camera being carried into a hotel room by mystery man.

Police discovered Shaniya Davis' body yesterday, hidden in a densely wooden area in Sanford, North Carolina, some 47km from the trailer park she called home, the Associated Press reports.

Up to 250 officers and volunteers were combing the area after a tip-off.

Police spokeswoman Theresa Chance refused to comment on the condition Shaniya's body was in.

"We've got a lot of people out at the scene right now that are torn up," she said.

"Detectives have been running off adrenaline to find this little girl and to bring her home alive ... you have a lot of people in shock right now."

The girl's mother, 25-year-old Antoinette Davis, has been apprehended and charged with human trafficking, child abuse involving prostitution and filing a false police report after she reported her daughter missing last Tuesday.

She appeared in court overnight, giving the judge just one word answers and refusing to enter a plea.

Authorities have revealed that the man filmed on surveillance camera carrying Shaniya into a hotel room is 29-year-old Mario Andrette McNeill. He has been charged with kidnapping.

Local highway patrol are reported to also be looking for a man in his 60s, who was seen cruising the woodland area in the hours after Shaniya disappeared.

Bradley Lockhart, who reportedly fathered Shaniya in a one-night stand with Davis, said he only recently agreed to let the young girl live with her mother — a decision he says he regretted.

"I should never have let her go over there," Mr Lockhart said.

Cesar Chavez Chronology

"One of the heroic figures of our time." -- Robert F. Kennedy

1927, March 31--Cesario Estrada Chavez is born on the small farm near Yuma, Ariz. that his grandfather homesteaded in the 1880s.

1937--After Cesar's father, Librado, is forced from his farm, the Chavez family becomes migrant workers in California.

1942--Cesar quits school after the eighth grade and works in the fields full time to help support his family.

1944--He joins the U.S. Navy during World War II and serves in the western Pacific. Just before shipping out to the Pacific, Cesar is arrested in a segregated Delano, Calif. movie theater for sitting in the "whites only"
section.

1948--Cesar marries Helen Fabela. They eventually have eight children.

Late 1940s--He begins studying the social teachings of the Catholic Church.

1952--Community organizer Fred Ross discovers the young farm worker laboring in apricot orchards outside San Jose, Calif., and recruits him into the Community Service Organization (CSO).

1952-1962--Together with Fred Ross, Cesar organizers 22 CSO chapters across California in the 1950s. Under Cesar's leadership, CSO becomes the most militant and effective Latino civil rights group of its day. It helps Latinos become citizens, registers them to vote, battles police brutality and presses for paved streets and other barrio improvements.

1962, March 31--On his birthday, Cesar resigns from CSO, moves his wife and eight small children to Delano and dedicates himself full-time to organizing farm workers.

1962, Sept. 30--The first convention of Cesar's National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) is convened in Fresno, Calif.

1962-1965--Often baby-sitting his youngest children as he drives to dozens of farm worker towns, Cesar painstakingly builds up the membership of his infant union.

1965, Sept. 16--On Mexican Independence Day, Cesar's NFWA, with 1,200-member families, votes to join a strike against Delano-area grape growers already begun that month by the mostly Filipino American members of the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee, AFL-CIO (AWOC). Thus begins the five-year Delano Grape Strike.

March-April 1966--Cesar and a band of strikers embark upon a 340-mile Peregrinacion (or Pilgrimage) from Delano to the steps of the state Capitol in Sacramento to draw national attention to the suffering of farm workers. During the march and after a four-month boycott, Schenley Vineyards negotiates an agreement with NFWA--the first genuine union contract between a grower and farm workers' union in U.S. history.

Spring-summer 1966--A boycott of the struck DiGiorgio Fruit Corp. forces the giant grape grower to agree to an election among its workers. The company brings in the Teamsters Union to oppose Cesar's NFWA. The NFWA and the Filipino American AWOC merge to form the United Farm Workers and the union affiliates with the AFL-CIO, the national labor federation. DiGiorgio workers vote for the UFW.

1967--The UFW strikes the Giumarra Vineyards Corp., California's largest table grape grower. In response to a UFW boycott, other grape growers allow Giumarra to use their labels. So the UFW begins a boycott of all California table grapes. Meanwhile, strikes continue against grape growers in the state.

1967-1970--Hundreds of grape strikers fan out across North America to organize an international grape boycott. Millions of Americans rally to La Causa, the farm workers' cause.

February-March 1968--Cesar fasts for 25 days to rededicate his movement to nonviolence. U.S. Sen. Robert F. Kennedy joins 8,000 farm workers and supporters at a mass where Cesar breaks his fast, calling the weakened farm labor leader "one of the heroic figures of our time."

Spring-summer 1970--As the boycott continues picking up steam, most California table grape growers sign UFW contracts.

Summer 1970--To keep the UFW out of California lettuce and vegetable fields, most Salinas Valley growers sign contracts with the Teamsters Union. Some 10,000 Central Coast farm workers respond by walking out on strike. Cesar calls for a nationwide boycott of lettuce.

1970, Dec. 10-24--Cesar is jailed Salinas, Calif. for refusing to obey a court order to stop the boycott against Bud Antle lettuce. Coretta Scott King, widow of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Ethel Kennedy, widow of Robert Kennedy, visit Cesar in jail.

1971--The UFW moves from Delano to its new headquarters at La Paz in Keene, Calif., southeast of Bakersfield. With table and wine grape contracts, and some agreements covering vegetable workers, UFW membership grows to around 80,000.

1972--The UFW is chartered as an independent affiliate by the AFLCIO; it becomes the United Farm Workers of America, AFL-CIO (UFW).

1972, May 11-June 4--Cesar fasts for 25 days in Phoenix over a just-passed Arizona law banning the right of farm workers to strike or boycott.

Spring-summer 1973--When the UFW's three-year table grape contracts come up for renewal, instead sign contracts with the Teamsters without an election or any representation procedure. That sparks a bitter three-month strike by grape workers in California's Coachella and San Joaquin valleys. Thousands of strikers are arrested for violating anti-picketing injunctions, hundreds are beaten, dozens are shot and two are murdered. In response to the violence, Cesar calls off the strike and begins a second grape boycott.

1973-1975--Accordin g to a nationwide 1975 Louis Harris poll, 17 million Americans are boycotting grapes. Many are also boycotting lettuce and Gallo wine after winery workers strike the mammoth Modesto, Calif.-based producer.

June 1975--After Jerry Brown becomes governor, the boycott convinces growers to agree to a state law guaranteeing California farm workers the right to organize and bargain with their employers. Cesar gets the landmark Agricultural Labor Relations Act through the state Legislature.

September 1975-January 1976--Hundreds of elections are held. The UFW wins the majority of the elections in which it participates. The Agricultural Labor Relations Board (ALRB), which enforces the law, briefly shuts down after running out of money and pro-grower lawmakers refuse to approve an emergency appropriation.

Mid-to-late 1970s--The UFW continues winning elections and signing contracts with growers. In 1977, the Teamsters Union signs a "jurisdictional" agreement with the UFW and agrees to leave the fields. In 1978, the UFW calls off its boycotts of grapes, lettuce and Gallo wine.

January-October 1979--In a bid to win decent wages and benefits, the UFW strikes several major lettuce and vegetable growers up and down the state. Rufino Contreras, 27-year old striker, is shot to death in an Imperial
Valley lettuce field by grower foremen.

September 1979--After a strike and boycott, the UFW wins its demands for a significant pay raise and other contract improvements from SunHarvest, the nation's largest lettuce producer. Other growers also soon settle.

Early 1980s--With election victories and contract negotiations, the number of farm workers protected by UFW contracts grows to about 45,000.

1982--Republican George Deukmejian is elected California governor with $1 million in grower campaign contributions.

1983-1990--Deukmeji an begins shutting down enforcement of the state's historic farm labor law. Thousands of farm workers lose their UFW contracts. Many are fired and blacklisted. Fresno-area dairy worker Rene Lopez, 19, is shot to death by grower agents after voting in a 1983 union election. Cesar declares a third grape boycott in 1984.
1986--Cesar kicks off the "Wrath of Grapes" campaign to draw public attention to the pesticide poisoning of grape workers and their children.

July-August 1988--At age 61, Chavez conducts his last--and longest--public fast for 36 days in Delano to call attention to farm workers and their children stricken by pesticides.

Late 1980s-early 1990s--After recovering from his fast, Cesar continues pressing the grape boycott and aiding farm workers who wish to organize.

Spring-summer 1992--Working with UFW First Vice President Arturo Rodriguez, Cesar leads vineyard walkouts in the Coachella and San Joaquin valleys. As a result, grape workers win their first industry-wide pay hike in eight years.

1993, April 23--Cesar Chavez dies peacefully in his sleep at the modest home of a retired San Luis, Ariz. farm worker while defending the UFW against a multi-million dollar lawsuit brought against the union by a large vegetable grower.

1993, April 29--40,000 mourners march behind Cesar's plain pine casket during funeral services in Delano.

May 1993--Veteran UFW organizer Arturo Rodriguez succeeds Cesar as union president.

March-April 1994--On the first anniversary of Cesar's passing, Arturo Rodriguez leads a 343-mile march retracing Cesar's historic 1966 trek from Delano to Sacramento. Some 17,000 farm workers and supporters gather on the state Capitol steps to help kick off a new UFW field organizing and contract negotiating campaign.

1994, August 8--President Bill Clinton posthumously presents the Medal of Freedom--America' s highest civilian honor--to Cesar Chavez. His widow, Helen, receives the medal during a White House ceremony.

1994-2000--Since the new UFW organizing drive began in 1994, farm workers vote for the UFW in 18 straight union elections and the UFW signs 24 new--or first-time-- agreements with growers. UFW membership rises from around 20,000 in 1993 to more than 27,000. The Cesar Chavez-founded union organizes and bargains on behalf of major rose, mushroom, strawberry, wine grape and lettuce and vegetable workers in California, Florida and Washington state.

Children exiled to NZ not badly treated - Bennett

Updated at 10:29pm on 16 November 2009

The Government says child migrants who came to New Zealand from Britain were treated far better than those who went to Australia.

Many of the 7,000 children sent to Australia under the Child Migrants Programme were sexually and physically abused, dumped in institutions or used as labourers on farms.

They received a formal apology from the Australian government on Monday.

Under the same scheme 549 children came to New Zealand in the 1940s and 50s.

But the Minister for Social Development and Employment, Paula Bennett, says most were placed in foster care rather than state institutions.

Even so, Paula Bennett says life was difficult for many, which is why the previous National Government granted them financial help to track down family and apply for New Zealand citizenship.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has also announced he will make a formal apology next year for Britain's role.

NZ child migrant says apology too late

One of New Zealand's child migrants says a formal apology by the British government comes too late for some and will never heal the pain endured by those who were deported.

Malcolm Axcell was one of 549 children sent to New Zealand under the scheme and says though it is good an apology is being made, it will never heal the pain that child migrants endured.

Mr Axcell, now 72, was the first child to step off the Rimutaka when it landed in Auckland in 1949 and was unsuccessful in trying to reunite with his mother.

He told Morning Report the apology will never heal the tough times child migrants went through, including himself.

"Some of them had a shocking time from the time they arrived until they got to that 18 year old age where they could move on their own lives."

This apology reminds me of a scene in a film. There was a fight in a steam / SONA room between some gangs, and one guy hit by a knife another in his back, but while that man was falling he realized that he hit the wrong man, and he said to him: "Sorry for that". .. What is the benefit of saying sorry.. without any criminal consequences..

It is a kind of a game to keep free the criminals..So why they - the same men of this evil empire- executed those Germans following WWII trials..

Shouldn't there be trial, and maybe execusion.. Most likely Churchill bones to be thrown to the sharks for example, including 50 meters  in 3 dimensions of the polluted soil which was responsible to bury his evil soul all these years.

Tears flow as nation hears apology

Posted 4 hours 9 minutes ago
Updated 2 hours 59 minutes ago

A 'forgotten Australian' shows his emotion as Prime Minister Kevin Rudd apologises

Remembering the forgotten: the Prime Minister says it is important to acknowledge "great evil has been done" (ABC News: Jeremy Thompson)

Many tears were shed today as Prime Minister Kevin Rudd delivered the historic apology to the hundreds of thousands of Forgotten Australians.

Almost 1,000 men and women travelled from around Australia to hear Mr Rudd and Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull apologise for the abuse, neglect and suffering they endured in foster care and orphanages between the 1920s and 1970s.

Mr Rudd also extended the nation's remorse to the 7,000 child migrants, most of whom travelled to Australia from the UK under the mistaken belief that their parents had died.( In fact Radio NZ said clearly that children were kidnapped from their families and sent abroad .. Sure people or criminals like Churchill were in the core of such English  empire related decision S1000+)

Addressing the crowd who gathered in Parliament House's Great Hall, he says the apology should mark a turning point in the nation's history to ensure it is never repeated.

Mr Rudd says it is important to acknowledge "great evil has been done".

Mary Smith says she is glad she made the effort to come from Western Australia to hear the apology.

"It made me cry. I said it wasn't going to make me cry but it did," she said.

"Both political parties were exceptionally good with their speeches.

"After listening to the speeches, they were excellent. Got right down to the nitty gritty.

"It takes a bit of the pressure off you, really."

Ms Smith says she likes the idea of the Government's pledge to give Forgotten Australians special care in old age and a national service to help people find their families.

"I think it's a brilliant idea, if it goes ahead," she said.

But Ms Smith says she is not seeking compensation.

"It's all too late," she said.

Healed

Around 500,000 children, including thousands of child migrants, grew up in government-run institutions and foster care and many had been lobbying for for an apology from the Federal Government since it was recommended by a Senate committee in 2004.

Rayleene O'Hehir and her two sisters were forced into an orphanage in Sydney's south-west in the 1950s when she was nine.

Ms O'Hehir watched the apology from home and said it had a huge impact on her.

"I don't think I have ever felt such a relief, because now everybody out there knows exactly what happened," she said.

"I now know my sisters and my family will be so solid with each other because we know we are human and that should not have happened.

"I just thank the Government with all my heart to have let people know this and help us. We certainly need the help because it's a thing you can't forget and a thing you can't put behind you.

"We can now go forward with all our hearts - not half broken - healed."

Sexual abuse

Melbourne resident Sue Wilson, who was sent to an orphanage near Albury run by the Mercy nuns, was in Canberra to witness the apology.

She says she was more fortunate than most others, including her two brothers.

"A couple of years ago one mentioned something and I brought something up with the other one and I've had a lot of problems communicating with him since. He just doesn't want to know," she said.

"I can believe it was sexual abuse. In what form I don't know. I know one was mildly, if you can call it mildly, sexually abused.

"And the other one, I think it might have been a lot more and he was in BoysTown and an orphanage in Goulburn."

Too little, too late

The British High Commissioner to Australia, Baroness Valerie Amos, says the UK Government will also say sorry early next year for its role in sending children to Australia.

"We're going to go out for a period of consultation because we think it's really important that we get the terminology right," Baroness Amos said.

"We acknowledge that this has been a shocking period in our history and it's important that we say sorry."

Like the British children sent to Australia and Canada, many of those who also arrived in New Zealand ended up in orphanages or foster care and were neglected and abused.

Some of New Zealand's child migrants say a formal apology from the UK government will be a positive step, but it will come too late for many.

A total of 549 British children were sent to New Zealand between 1920 and 1967, often without their parents' consent.

Malcolm Axcell came to Auckland in 1949 and was treated appallingly. He told Radio New Zealand that he is happy the Australian government has apologised.

"This could be a start for, not a new life, at least a start towards helping them get over the trauma of what happened to them," he said.

Police seeking fifth man after fatal shooting

NZPA November 15, 2009, 11:37 am

Police are seeking a fifth man in connection with a fatal shooting in a Nelson park yesterday.

Officers had already arrested four other men, who were being held on a number of charges they will face in Nelson District Court tomorrow.

A 22-year-old man was shot dead during a confrontation between two groups of men in Branford Park, near the city's centre about 6pm.

The fight, involving about 12 people, started over a woman who "was known to both groups", Detective Inspector John Winter said.

"There had been a level of tension over the past few months that was escalating in intensity," he said. (<-- Interesting !!! S1000+)

In addition to the gun, a baseball bat was used in the fight and another man suffered moderate head injuries.

Forensic examiners were on the scene this morning, with the body remaining where it fell until later today when it would be taken away for a post-mortem examination, he said.

The four men in custody were arrested at a house in Richmond about 11pm.

Police knew who the fifth man was and hoped he would get in touch on his own accord today, Mr Winter said.

Police were also looking for the two cars the men used to leave the scene of the shooting, as well as any witnesses to the incident they had not yet talked to.

So after messing in iraq and the so called war against terrorism, the USA wants now to mess up in Asia again

S1000+

Obama said today:

"We must strengthen our economic recovery, and pursue growth that is both balanced and sustained," he said. "We simply cannot return to the same cycles of boom and bust that led us into a global recession."

He said the US would pursue a new economic strategy that would mean "saving more and spending less".

He urged Asian leaders to break their dependence on exports to the US market and to open up their markets to speed up a global economic recovery.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8360083.stm

singapore pm said today :

"The United States needs to borrow less and save more," said Mr Lee, "and that means somebody else in the world has to save a little bit less and spend a little bit more. And if you look at where the imbalances are it means countries like China, where savings are high, have to make some adjustments."

That points to another more subtle rebalancing in the region - the shifting balance of power between the United States and China.

China syndrome

China has been steadily building its business interests and political ties, especially in South-East Asia.

"China has been very active in the region, cultivating countries and making friends and influencing people" said Mr Lee.

And as China was quietly extending its influence, the United States was preoccupied with Iraq, Afghanistan and the so-called War on Terror. In effect America took its eye off the Asian ball, as the Singaporean prime minister acknowledged.

"The tilling of the ground, the cultivation of the relationships in South-East Asia particularly has not been given as much attention as we would have preferred," he said.

But now the United States says it's back and wants to reengage with Asia. President Barack Obama is making his first trip to the region, visiting Japan, China and South Korea on either side of the Apec summit.

Some are predicting a new era of Sino-American rivalry, with smaller nations in Asia left to play one off against the other or forced to choose sides.

Yet the Singaporean prime minister cautioned against a confrontational approach.

"We want a peaceful, constructive rivalry," he said. "If there's a rift down the middle of the Pacific there would be trouble for all of us ... including America and China."

That also seems to be the view from Washington.

The senior director for East Asian affairs at the National Security Council, Jeffrey Bader, told reporters recently: "I don't see this relationship as a zero-sum one. We see it as a relationship where we're obviously going to have differences, where we are going to be competitors in certain respects. But we want to maximise areas where we can work together because the global challenges we face will simply not be met if we don't."

There is another arena where Washington's new approach may be in evidence in Singapore.

The stupidity of Bill Gates -Thanks God he ran away- coupled with the greed of some herders and mixed with the curiosity of some stupid short sighted engineers,  were all commingled and are trying to invent the wheel, by claiming that everything is possible by touches only..

The cell phone designers  went more crazily and made it hell.

I am forced to use this primitive technology which I presume it is in its primary stages in two appliances: Notebook Computer as a mouse and Cell phone to replace the keyboard and to do some crazy unnecessary actions.. Both proved to be so primitive and full of bugs and stupid designs..
I searched the internet and found all the herd members say loudly: Greeat

I hope any one will stop those cowards from imposing crap technologies.. We are finally part of experiments of many and many corporates and coward sick short sighted idiots.

A 14-year-old Virginia boy is weak and struggling to walk after coming down with a reported case of Guillain-Barre syndrome within hours after receiving the H1N1 vaccine for swine flu.

Jordan McFarland, a high school athlete from Alexandria, Va., left Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children Tuesday night in a wheelchair nearly a week after developing severe headaches, muscle spasms and weakness in his legs following a swine flu shot. He will likely need the assistance of a walker for four to six weeks, plus extensive physical therapy.

“The doctor said I’ll recover fully, but it’s going to take some time,” the teenager said.

ZetaTalk: Brazil Blackout
written November 11, 2009

Power Failure Blacks Out Much of Brazil, Paraguay [Nov 11] http://online.wsj.com/article/ A massive power failure hit Brazil's two biggest cities, So Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, and large parts of neighboring Paraguay, leaving millions of people in the dark Tuesday night after a hydroelectric plant went offline. The blackout cut off some 17,000 megawatts of electricity, affecting 10 Brazilian states, but power began returning to Rio within a few hours. Brazilian Energy Minister Edson Lobo said authorities weren't sure what caused the outage at the Itaipu dam, which straddles the border between Brazil and Paraguay, but he believed an "atmospheric phenomenon" or "high-intensity storm" was to blame. [and from another] Outage Leaves Millions Without Power in Brazil [Nov 11] http://www.reuters.com/article/ The electricity operator in the state of Minas Gerais said the outage was caused by a problem with the Itaipu dam which lies on the border between Brazil and Paraguay.

The failure of the hydroelectric plant at the Itaipu dam situated on the border of Brazil and Paraguay was of course caused by an electromagnetic storm caused by the near presence of Planet X and the wafting of its charged tail. The Brazilian Energy Minister was honest about the cause, stating it was a failure at the dam caused by an unknown "atmospheric phenomena". Many blackouts are caused by the equipment shutting down to protect it from surge or brownout damage. Often when there is high demand for electricity, brownouts can occur due to lack of power available to serve the demand. This can cause a domino effect, as one substation after another shuts down due to overload, forcing the demand onto a neighboring substation. This was not the case in the Brazil/Paraguay blackout, which stemmed from the dam itself. The blackout was sudden, affecting the whole area serviced by the power station, showing that the outage stemmed from the dam itself.

Several high profile electrical outages have occurred in recent months - the Air France 447 failure of all electrical systems on that plane on June 1, and the explosions at the Sajano-Shushenskoj hydroelectric power station on August 17 caused by an electromagnetic tsunami. Electromagnetic blasts coming from Planet X have been on record since January 21 with the Earth's magnetosphere losing its S Pole or being twisted, often in synch with major earthquakes. What happened at the Itaipu dam was not due to a particularly strong flood of electromagnetic particles, as the monitoring of the Earth's magnetosphere shows. The magnetosphere seemed to be relatively calm. Where there was no overall electromagnetic blast affecting Earth, the confused magnetic turmoil between the Earth and Planet X can cause erratic magnetic flows in almost any direction. At times, Planet X and the Earth line up end-to-end briefly, causing the Earth to lose its S Pole or for the Earth's magnetosphere to twist. At other times, there is merely a drift of magnetic particles from the field of Planet X toward the Earth's field, causing an overload of particles.

Such a drift is erratic, and is attracted to the surface of Earth based on the electromagnetic particles on the surface of the Earth. This is what caused the hapless Air France 447 to shut down. It was the surface magnet, the Atlantic Rift itself, that attracted a surge of electromagnetic particles just as the plane was crossing the rift. What is it about the location of the Itaipu dam that makes it susceptible to attracting such an electromagnetic surge? We have mentioned that the S American continent has a seaway opening up along the Parana River, ripping apart at Buenos Aires. River bottoms and seaway bottoms in particular, are along weak points in a plate, being pulled apart and causing the land to sink. Thus, such points have less of a shield between the electromagnetic core of the Earth and any turmoil surrounding the Earth's magnetosphere. A surge bridged the gap between magnetrons in the field of Planet X and the core of the Earth there, at that weak point in the crust, and the wealth of electromagnetic particles being generated at the dam was another attractant.

The pointed crop circle that appeared in Brazil two weeks prior to the blackout was warning those in this region that their geography would make them vulnerable to such blackouts. The crop circle appeared in Ipuacu, just to the ESE of the Itaipu dam near Foz do Iguacu. The crop circle pointed to the SSW, south of the dam and along the Parana River channel. The crop circle was stating, in pointed language that rises above the language barrier, that the great Atlantic Rift running down along the northern shore of Brazil was not the only place in danger of electromagnetic pulse. Those who would like clarification on the warning that the visitors are giving them should give the Call and engage the visitors directly. We have warned of increasing outages, such as the Earth experienced in 2003 when the massive tail of Planet X wafted the Earth. These times are now upon mankind.

US Army Recruits Immigrants, Rewards Them With Citizenship

13 April 2009

New military recruits
New Army recruits
The U.S. Army is stepping up efforts to recruit more skilled soldiers by offering immigrants a fast track to U.S. citizenship if they enlist.

The move comes as the Pentagon prepares to send several thousand more troops to Afghanistan and with the war in Iraq in its sixth year.

The U.S. Army chief of staff, himself, swore in a group of recruits at a ceremony in New York.  Half of the 32 new Army recruits are immigrants from countries such as Pakistan, India, South Korea and Bangladesh.

General George Casey welcomed the new soldiers, recruited under a new initiative called MAVNI - Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest. It's a pilot program that promotes enlistment as a short-cut to U.S. citizenship. Recruits are required to have at least two years of legal U.S. residency.

Lieutenant Colonel Margaret Stock says the Army is looking for people with language skills or medical expertise. "We're also looking for people who have cultural ability. They understand certain cultures that we are dealing with. We found, in our operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, that having people who were culturally knowledgeable is critical to success on the battlefield," Stock said.

So far, the MAVNI program, which began in February, has enlisted 52 new soldiers, 60 percent of whom are college graduates. The Army wants people who speak one of 35 languages it deems "strategic."

Stephen Chi speaks Cantonese and four other languages. He will be working as a petroleum supply specialist.  He says he enlisted, not for the U.S. passport, but for the camaraderie. "I grew up in Norway, my parents are Chinese, so joining the Army will give me a chance to really belong to somewhere," he said.

Twenty-four-year-old Toniya Mishra, who will start as a water treatment specialist, says the Army approached her after finding her resume on the Internet. While her starting salary is less than she hoped to get with a masters degree, she says there are other perks. "They provide insurance for your family, and you get to travel a lot in different countries, and it's better than doing anything else in a market like this today," she said.

For the recruits, the next stop is basic training, a rigorous nine weeks of physical fitness, discipline and training. And some then will go to Iraq or Afghanistan, where they could face the dangers of combat.

Krishna Melpati - a medical doctor from India - has a concern. "My only fear," Krishna says, "is like, getting through the basic training."

So far, 380 people have applied. The Army says it will accept up to 1,000 before the program expires in December.

Naturalization Information for Military Personnel

Naturalization Information for Military Personnel

If you are a member of the U.S. Armed Forces and are interested in becoming a U.S. citizen, you may be eligible to apply for citizenship under special provisions provided for in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). Generally, service in the U.S. Armed Forces means service in one of the following branches:

  • Army,
  • Navy,
  • Marine Corps,
  • Air Force,
  • Coast Guard,
  • Certain Reserve components of the National Guard, and
  • Selected Reserve of the Ready Reserve

Recent changes in the relevant sections of the INA (Sections 328 and 329) make it easier for qualified military personnel to become U.S. citizens if they choose to file a naturalization application.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has created a streamlined process specifically for military personnel serving in active-duty status or have recently been discharged.

This brochure provides you with some basic information about the laws that govern citizenship for military personnel and the process you should follow to begin your journey to citizenship.

Army Effort to Enlist Hispanics Draws Recruits, and Criticism

by:   |

Army Effort to Enlist Hispanics Draws Recruits, and Criticism
    By Lizette Alvarez
    The New York Times

    Thursday 09 February 2006

Denver - As Sgt. First Class Gavino Barron, dressed in a crisp Army uniform, trawls the Wal-Mart here for recruits, past stacks of pillows and towers of detergent, he is zeroing-in on one of the Army's "special missions": to increase the number of Hispanic enlisted soldiers.

He approaches a couple of sheepish looking teenage boys in the automotive aisle and seamlessly slides into Spanish, letting loose his pitch: "Have you ever thought about joining the Army?" "Did you know you can get up to $40,000 in bonuses?" "I'm from Mexico, too. Michoac a1n."

In Denver and other cities where the Hispanic population is growing, recruiting Latinos has become one of the Army's top priorities. From 2001 to 2005, the number of Latino enlistments in the Army rose 26 percent, and in the military as a whole, the increase was 18 percent.

The increase comes at a time when the Army is struggling to recruit new soldiers and when the enlistment of African-Americans, a group particularly disillusioned with the war in Iraq, has dropped off sharply, to 14.5 percent from 22.3 percent over the past four years.

Not all Latinos, though, are in step with the military's recruitment goals. In some cities with large Hispanic populations, the focus on recruitment has polarized Latinos, prompting some to organize against recruiters and to help immigrants learn their rights.

Critics say recruiters, who are under pressure to meet quotas, often use their charm and an arsenal of tactics, including repeated calls to a recruit, lunch at a favorite restaurant and trips to the gym. The Army also parades rigged-out, juiced-up Hummers wherever youths gather as promotional tools.

"We see a lot of confusion among immigrant parents, and recruiters are preying on that confusion," said Jorge Mariscal, a Vietnam veteran who is director of the Chicano/Latino Arts and Humanities Program at the University of California, San Diego, and is active in the counter recruitment movement.

While the military emphasizes that it works to enlist all qualified people, not just Hispanics, military experts say that bringing in more Latinos is overdue. Hispanics have long been underrepresented in the Army and in the military as a whole. While Latinos make up 10.8 percent of the Army's active-duty force, a better rate than the Air Force or Navy, they account for 14 percent of the population as a whole.

Hispanics also make up the fastest-growing pool of military age people in the United States, and they are more likely to complete boot camp and finish their military service, according to a 2004 study on Marine recruitment by CNA, a research group that operates the Center for Naval Analyses and the Institute for Public Research. Recruitment studies show that Hispanics' re-enlistment rates are also the highest among any group of soldiers.

"They are extremely patriotic," said Lt. Col. Jeffrey Brodeur, commanding officer of the Recruitment Battalion covering Colorado, Wyoming, parts of Montana and Nebraska.

That many Latinos in the military are immigrants, or the children of immigrants, typically engenders a sense of gratitude for the United States and its opportunities, something recruiters stress in their pitch.

Poorer and less educated than the average American, some Hispanics view the military as a way to feel accepted. Others enlist for the same reasons that may attract any recruit: the money, the job training, the education benefits and the escape from poverty or small-town life.

Edgar Santana, a skinny 17-year-old senior who recently hovered around the Army recruiting table at Harrison High School in Colorado Springs, said he was attracted by all those reasons, despite the war in Iraq. "I get the freedoms, and I can enjoy them, so I believe I have to pay back that debt," Mr. Santana said.

Tony Mendoza Jr., 18, a senior at North High School in Denver, has already enlisted in the Army and will enter boot camp this summer. For him, the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, were what drove him into boots. "My parents think I'm going to go in the Army and die, but I wanted to do it," Mr. Mendoza said.

Patriotism alone, though, does not account for the rise in Hispanic enlistment. The increase has gone hand in hand with a vast Army marketing campaign that includes Spanish-language advertisements on Univision and Telemundo, the country's two largest Spanish-language networks, and on the radio and in Hispanic publications. The budget for this campaign has increased by at least $55 million in four years.

The Army has also expanded a small pilot project that allows 200 Latinos each year to undergo rigorous English language classes and then retake the Army qualifications tests. Ten cities now offer that option, up from five.

Recruiters have noticeably stepped up their presence in schools and neighborhoods with Hispanic populations. "You see them today where you would never see them three or four years ago," said Rick Jahnkow, program coordinator for the Project on Youth and non-Military Opportunities in San Diego.

In addition, the Army has made better use of bilingual recruiters to reach out to Latino communities. In the Colorado area, the number of bilingual recruiters has increased in the past 18 months to 13 from 4.

Recognizing the importance of family and its weight in the process is crucial in Hispanic families, recruiters say. Since a mother's approval can make or break a deal, recruiters spend considerable time with Latino families. They have dinner, chat often on the telephone and remain patient. They even attend local Latino churches.

Sgt. First Class Luis M. Galicia, a bilingual recruiter based in Colorado Springs, is always quick to say he was born in Mexico and raised, on little money, in California. He and his family picked grapes for extra cash. He says that his experience helps him connect.; "there is a trust issue."

One incentive meant to appeal to this community, President Bush's 2002 executive order that permits legal residents in the military to apply for citizenship within one year, as opposed to three years, has actually done little to entice Latinos. In fact, the number of Army soldiers who are not citizens has declined since 2002 to 2,447 last year from 3,312. The same is true for enlistments.

Simply speeding up the application process for people already in this country legally does not seem to provide enough incentive to counter the risks of joining up in a time of war.

The recruitment campaign has in fact divided the Latino community. Some of the country's high-profile Latino organizations, like the League of United Latin American Citizens, support the military's efforts, viewing it as an important path to socioeconomic advancement.

"The fact that Latinos are underrepresented in the service causes us concern because the service is often a way to the middle class for many immigrants," said Brent Wilkes, national director of the league. "If you don't have a lot of options, would you rather go into the service and get a middle-class career, or stay in the fields all these years?"

But community activists in places like California and Puerto Rico call that logic wrongheaded. "This is not the time to sign up," said Sonia Santiago, a psychologist and a counter recruiter in Puerto Rico who founded Mothers Against the War after her son, a marine, was sent to Iraq in 2003. Dr. Santiago has routinely confronted recruiters outside schools. "Those benefits don't mean anything, if they are buried or sick for the rest of their lives," she said.

Critics also say that Latinos often wind up as cannon fodder on the casualty-prone front lines. African-Americans saw the same thing happen during the 1970's and 1980's, an accusation that still reverberates. Hispanics make up only 4.7 percent of the military's officer corps.

"The fear is that the military is going to try to replace, consciously or unconsciously, African-Americans with Hispanics," said David Segal, a military sociologist at the University of Maryland.

For bilingual recruiters, tapping into the Latino population has its own set of frustrations. Often, Latinos are willing to join the Army, but cannot. During his rounds at the Wal-Mart, Sergeant Barron encountered a number of illegal immigrants; they are immediately disqualified. Other Latinos lack adequate English skills or high school degrees, he said.

In the past year, a Latino counter recruitment movement has arisen in several major cities with the goal of blunting what organizers call overly aggressive and suggestive recruitment in Latino neighborhoods. Some critics say recruiters sometimes gloss over the risks and mislead potential recruits and their parents. Latino parents, especially those who speak little English and know little about the military, are especially susceptible to a recruiter's persistence and charm, critics say.

Fernando Suarez del Solar, whose son was a marine and died in Iraq in 2003, founded Aztec Warrior Project for Peace to help counsel Latinos on the military. He said he often encountered parents who did not understand the intricacies of the process. One set of parents in Southern California, he said, mistakenly signed papers allowing their 17-year-old to join the military on his 18th birthday, believing that the government required military service, something the recruiter did not clarify.

Michael I. Marsh, a lawyer who represents migrant workers in Oxnard, Calif., said he wrote a letter to a local recruitment battalion last year after a 17-year-old's parents signed off on his Army Reserve enlistment at 18. The parents told him they were under the impression that they were signing to authorize a physical exam and blood work. When the youth later tried to nullify the contract, he was told it was too late and that if he tried to pull out, he would be ineligible for school money and federal employment.

After Mr. Marsh sent the letter, the teenager was allowed to withdraw his enlistment, Mr. Marsh said. Military contracts are not binding until a person takes a second oath of enlistment.

"The recruiter does not lie, but he does not tell the whole truth," Mr. Suarez said. "If you don't know the question to ask, you don't get the information. With language and cultural differences, it's complicated."

    S. Douglas Smith, a spokesman for the Army's recruiting command, said that the Army investigated allegations of misconduct and that, while recruiters were expected to encourage people to enlist, they must be honest about risks and benefits.

"Given the fact that we are a nation at war, recruiters have to be up front about the risks," hhttp://www.truthout.org/article/army-effort-enlist-hispanics-draws-recruits-and-criticisme said.

Very strange definision of singers which never comes to our mind..  That is why we need to remind the white men.. that they have also diffrent sects .. It is a very easy old English game.. Ok, let's get this out of the way.

Fort Hood - tragic.

Now let's look at some reality.

ONE guy shooting a hand gun killed
HOW many people - and on a military
base? Ae you serious?

And the one shooter is now in a coma?

And, as of now at least, there's no
surveillance camera footage?

And he's a Muslim who also happens
to be a serviceman with a mental
disorder involving gunplay who did
it with privately owned weapons?

This thing could not have been scripted or
casted better if Hollywood had produced it.

Let's see:

1. Private gun ownership demonized - check

2. Muslims demonized - check

3. Military personnel demonized - check

4. Base dwelling troops at home terrorized
by a fellow American - check

5. Yet another chance to distract the public - check

If this really happened the way it's been spun,
there have to be a lot of social engineers
high fiving each other at their good luck.

And what about the logic of the gunman?

He was afraid of being deployed to a combat
zone...so he created one at home so he
could be killed sooner? I realize the man
was "crazy" but come on.

(I wonder what prescribed medically-endorsed
pharmaceutical substance(s) he was one. We'll
never know because it would violate his privacy.
Score another one for Big Pharma.)

13 killed and 30 wounded by one man with
two pistols.

Nearly a 50% kill rate.

Ever fired a handgun? Ever tried aiming
and firing two at a time? Under pressure?
Ever reload a handgun under pressure?
There were people shooting at him. That's
a little pressure.

We're talking about yet *another* superhuman
performance by a "lone gunman" who is
conveniently not conscious to tell the tale.

Caliber doesn't matter and the bogus
non-fact that these were "automatic"
pistols is bull**** as well.

Meanwhile, we're being drowned in
flags, memorials and interviews with
the victims' families - and a total
absence of any information that makes
sense.

"But the government would never
do such a thing to its own troops!"

Uh, excuse me. It's putting thousands
of them through a meat grinder in
a pointless, unwinnable charade of
a war as we speak - in two countries,
while gearing up for two more (Iran
and Pakistan.)

Do you think the dead and wounded
from overseas are any less dead and
wounded victims from Fort Hood?

Assume the gunman was crazy. What
does that make the Bush-Bama regime?

Here's a news report about *another*
mass shooting by a lone gunman with two
pistols that sneaked its way onto the air
before it was pulled off and never replayed.

Reality please, just a little reality.

Again we say, it is the stupidity of Germans (Hitler indeed), who thought stupidly that attacking Russia, would make the sick English (Churchill) move to help him. He never thought how low Churchill was, and he stupidly thought that Europe troubles was because of Jews not because of London.

American Adviser to Kurds Stands to Reap Oil Profits

OSLO — Peter W. Galbraith, an influential former American ambassador, is a powerful voice on Iraq who helped shape the views of policy makers like Joseph R. Biden Jr. and John Kerry. In the summer of 2005, he was also an adviser to the Kurdish regional government as Iraq wrote its Constitution — tough and sensitive talks not least because of issues like how Iraq would divide its vast oil wealth.

Now Mr. Galbraith, 58, son of the renowned economist John Kenneth Galbraith, stands to earn perhaps a hundred million or more dollars as a result of his closeness to the Kurds, his relations with a Norwegian oil company and constitutional provisions he helped the Kurds extract.

In the constitutional negotiations, he helped the Kurds ram through provisions that gave their region — rather than the central Baghdad government — sole authority over many of their internal affairs, including clauses that he maintains will give the Kurds virtually complete control over all new oil finds on their territory.

Mr. Galbraith, widely viewed in Washington as a smart and bold foreign policy expert, has always described himself as an unpaid adviser to the Kurds, although he has spoken in general terms about having business interests in Kurdistan, as the north of Iraq is known.

So it came as a shock to many last month when a group of Norwegian investigative journalists at the newspaper Dagens Naeringsliv began publishing documents linking Mr. Galbraith to a specific Norwegian oil company with major contracts in Iraq.

Interviews by The New York Times with more than a dozen current and former government and business officials in Norway, France, Iraq, the United States and elsewhere, along with legal records and other documents, reveal in considerable detail that he received rights to an enormous stake in at least one of Kurdistan’s oil fields in the spring of 2004.

As it turns out, Mr. Galbraith received the rights after he helped negotiate a potentially lucrative contract that allowed the Norwegian oil company DNO to drill for oil in the promising Dohuk region of Kurdistan, the interviews and documents show.

He says his actions were proper because he was at the time a private citizen deeply involved in Kurdish causes, both in business and policy.

When drillers struck oil in a rich new field called Tawke in December 2005, no one but a handful of government and business officials and members of Mr. Galbraith’s inner circle knew that the constitutional provisions he had pushed through only months earlier could enrich him so handsomely.

As the scope of Mr. Galbraith’s financial interests in Kurdistan become clear, they have the potential to inflame some of Iraqis’ deepest fears, including conspiracy theories that the true reason for the American invasion of their country was to take its oil. It may not help that outside Kurdistan, Mr. Galbraith’s influential view that Iraq should be broken up along ethnic lines is considered offensive to many Iraqis’ nationalism. Mr. Biden and Mr. Kerry, who have been influenced by Mr. Galbraith’s thinking but do not advocate such a partitioning of the country, were not aware of Mr. Galbraith’s oil dealings in Iraq, aides to both politicians say.

Some officials say that his financial ties could raise serious questions about the integrity of the constitutional negotiations themselves. “The idea that an oil company was participating in the drafting of the Iraqi Constitution leaves me speechless,” said Feisal Amin al-Istrabadi, a principal drafter of the law that governed Iraq after the United States ceded control to an Iraqi government on June 28, 2004.

In effect, he said, the company “has a representative in the room, drafting.”

DNO’s chief executive, Helge Eide, confirmed that Mr. Galbraith helped negotiate the Tawke deal and advised the company during 2005. But Mr. Eide said that Mr. Galbraith acted solely as a political adviser and that the company never discussed the Constitution negotiations with him. “We certainly never did give any input, language or suggestions on the Constitution,” Mr. Eide said.

When the findings based on interviews by The Times and other research were presented to Mr. Galbraith last weekend, he responded in writing to The Times, confirming that he did work as a mediator between DNO and the Kurdish government until the oil contract was signed in the spring of 2004, and saying that he maintained an “ongoing business relationship” with the company throughout the constitutional negotiations in 2005 and later.

Mr. Galbraith says he held no official position in the United States or Iraq during this entire period and acted purely as a private citizen. He maintains that his largely undeclared dual role was entirely proper. He says that he was simply advocating positions that the Kurds had documented before his relationship with DNO even began.

“What is true is that I undertook business activities that were entirely consistent with my long-held policy views,” Mr. Galbraith said in his response. “I believe my work with DNO (and other companies) helped create the Kurdistan oil industry which helps provide Kurdistan an economic base for the autonomy its people almost unanimously desire.”

“So, while I may have had interests, I see no conflict,” Mr. Galbraith said.

Kurdish officials said that they were informed of Mr. Galbraith’s work for DNO and that they still considered him a friend and advocate. Mr. Galbraith said that during his work on the Constitution negotiations, the Kurds “did not pay me and they knew I was being paid by DNO.”

Mr. Istrabadi, who was also the Iraqi ambassador to the United Nations from 2004 to 2007, said the case was especially troubling given the influence of Mr. Galbraith’s policy views. In his writings — some of them on the Op-Ed page of The Times and in the New York Review of Books — he is generally identified as a former ambassador or with some other generic description that gives no insight into his business interests in the area.

Mr. Galbraith, for many years on the staff of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has a long relationship with the Kurds. In 1988, he documented Saddam Hussein’s systematic campaign against the Kurds, including the use of gas (which is a complete fabricated lie designed by BOE circles S1000+) . He served as United States ambassador to Croatia between 1993 and 1998. In September, he was fired as the No. 2 official with the United Nations mission in Afghanistan after he accused the head of the mission of concealing allegations of electoral fraud.

Views of Mr. Galbraith’s business ties are harsh within the central Baghdad government, which has long maintained, in stark opposition to Mr. Galbraith’s interpretation of the Constitution, that all the oil contracts signed by the Kurdish government were illegal.

Referring to the Constitution negotiations, Abdul-Hadi al-Hassani, vice chairman of the oil and gas committee in the Iraqi Parliament, said that Mr. Galbraith’s “interference was not justified, illegal and not right, particularly because he is involved in a company where his financial interests have been merged with the political interest.”

Citing what he said were confidentiality agreements, Mr. Galbraith refused to give details of his financial arrangement with the company, and the precise nature of his compensation remains unknown. But several officials, including Mr. Galbraith’s business partner in the deal, the Norwegian businessman Endre Rosjo, said that in addition to whatever consulting fees the company paid, he and Mr. Galbraith were together granted rights to 10 percent of the large Tawke field and possibly others.

An internal DNO document dated Dec. 3, 2006, which was first obtained by Dagens Naeringsliv, indicates that a company called Porcupine, registered in Delaware under Mr. Galbraith’s name, still held the rights to the 5 percent stake at that time, while a company associated with Mr. Rosjo held the other 5 percent.

Mr. Eide, the DNO executive, said that as far as the company knew, Mr. Galbraith’s work was proper.

“To our knowledge, Mr. Galbraith in 2004 was working as a businessman with no political assignments,” Mr. Eide said. “Given our network model and limited experience and knowledge from the region at that time, our evaluation concluded that we should use Mr. Galbraith to advise DNO in the first stage of the project.”

As revelations began appearing in recent weeks, Mr. Galbraith at first issued qualified denials stating that he had never been party to any arrangement in Iraq technically referred to in the oil industry as a production-sharing contract. But industry insiders say that the rights could have been couched in different terms — not an ownership stake, but a conditional right or option to become part of such an agreement at a future date.

Estimating the value of any stake in the Kurdish fields is difficult given the political uncertainties. But Are Martin Berntzen, an oil analyst at Oslo’s First Securities brokerage, said the Tawke field alone has proven reserves of about 230 million barrels, a figure likely to increase as new wells are drilled.

“Given no political risk, a 5 percent stake should be worth at least $115 million,” he said, though he emphasized that he knew nothing about Mr. Galbraith’s arrangement.

A possible indication of Mr. Galbraith’s estimate of the deal’s worth may be discerned in a London arbitration case in which Porcupine and a Yemeni investor who now apparently holds Mr. Rosjo’s former share are seeking more than $525 million from DNO, according to a filing reported on the legal news Web site Law.com. Oil analysts in Norway played down the likelihood of a reward as large as the claim.

According to DNO, the claim represents up to 10 percent of the value of the regional production contract, which the Norwegian oil firm now shares with a Turkish energy company after Kurdish authorities reviewed the previous deal and barred “certain third-party interests” from participating further. At a shareholders meeting on Wednesday, Mr. Eide refused to name Mr. Galbraith as a claimant in the case. He acknowledged, however, that DNO lost a procedural ruling in the case last May, and he said a final decision on damages was expected in early 2010.

In his response, Mr. Galbraith would say only that “my contractual relationship was with DNO and is the subject of pending arbitration.”

Mohammed Hussein contributed reporting from Baghdad, and David E. Sanger from Washington.

Hi the Hawk and the world caring people.
Austria was dismantlement by different stages, and sadly the thugs won at the end. Before that the Austrian Hungarian Empire it was. Well those wearing the Protestant jackets won. It was very sad that two opposing ethical groups were in fight against each other, during the mid centuries weakening themselves, and giving a  good chance for the thugs to take over, and they are strengthening themselves by tearing off their principles one after another. That was easy for them.. because they have no principles, and the banner of principles was for the ignorance of the majority to think that they had any.

In the 2005 movie V For Vendetta, a film about a totalitarian society ruled by a fascist government with an iron surveillance fist, there's a scene where state spooks drive down a residential street with a gadget that records the conversations people are having inside their homes and gives them a rating on how antagonistic towards the authorities they are.

A frighteningly similar scenario is now on the horizon with the news that the CIA's investment arm In-Q-Tel is putting cash into Visible Technologies, a company that monitors the output of social media, in order to "Read your blog posts, keep track of your Twitter updates - even check out your book reviews on Amazon," reports Wired News.

Of course, the fact that the U.S. government and the military have been
overloading the Internet with pro-war propaganda and trolls who are paid to cheerlead for the war on terror and attack critics is an admitted part of their cyberwarfare agenda, and Israel has done the same.

However, the prospect of the CIA closely monitoring social networking
websites, whose content largely comprises of inane gossip and sophomoric blabber, shows just how afraid the establishment is of rising popular opposition to their agenda.

"Visible crawls over half a million web 2.0 sites a day, scraping more than a million posts and conversations taking place on blogs, online forums, Flickr, YouTube, Twitter and Amazon. Customers get customized, real-time feeds of what's being said on these sites, based on a series of keywords," according to Wired.

The software scores whether each post is positive, neutral or negative on a particular topic and can judge who the most influential poster is in a conversation, for example on a comment board or forum.

According to In-Q-Tel, it wants to use the technology to see how
international issues are playing out in foreign media, but as the report
notes, "Of course, such a tool can also be pointed inward, at domestic
bloggers or tweeters. Visible already keeps tabs on web 2.0 sites for Dell, AT&T and Verizon. For Microsoft, the company is monitoring the buzz on its Windows 7 rollout. For Spam-maker Hormel, Visible is tracking animal-right activists' online campaigns against the company."

Steven Aftergood of the Federation of American Scientists warns that the software could be used to track and target critics of the government, as well as political figures and journalists.

"Intelligence agencies or employees might be tempted to use the tools at their disposal to compile information on political figures, critics,
journalists or others, and to exploit such information for political
advantage," Aftergood told Wired.

Visible chief executive officer Dan Vetras said that the CIA was just one of  several government clients that were using the technology and that more were on the horizon.
