Becoming a Member
To join this group, click the JOIN button above. Please enter some details about your location in the Comments box (your zip code will work). This is a list for local folks only. (Please also make sure NOT to choose 'No Email' - see below.) When your membership is approved, you will receive a welcome message and a FreecycleAmherst Etiquette guide. PLEASE READ THIS guide before you participate in this group.

Managing the Messages
If you are concerned about receiving too many emails, you may choose "Daily Digest" (one long message with all of the day's posts in it) or "Special Notices" (you'll only receive special notices sent by me via email- you can check the regular messages on this site). You may not choose "No Email" since I do need some way to keep in touch with special announcements.

Posting to the List
Only certain types of messages are allowed on the list. The guidelines are simple and are described in the etiquette file. I reserve the right to edit or delete messages that I feel are inappropriate for the list. Please make sure to only post one of the 4 allowed types of messages to the list: OFFER, TAKEN, WANTED, and FOUND.


I know it sounds strict, but these guidelines keep our little community functioning smoothly (and allow us to easily scan the archives). If you have any questions or concerns, always feel free to get in touch. Thanks,
