Freecycle Etiquette

1. Keep it free. Freecycle's goal is provide a fun way to keep good items out of landfills.
2. Only four types of message can be sent, OFFER, TAKEN, WANTED and RECEIVED. I know it sounds strict, but these guidelines keep our little community functioning smoothly.
3. The subject line of your OFFER or WANTED message must indicate your approximate location in Hoboken (not necessarily your address). Clearly, since this is Freecycle-Hoboken, the location must be in Hoboken. Members who are in Jersey City, Weehawken, Union City, or any other places that are not Hoboken, are more than welcome to _respond_ to OFFER and WANTED posts, but cannot post OFFER or WANTED posts themselves. Everyone interested in Freecycle activities in all of Hudson County should join the very active Hudson County Freecycle group.
4. Keep WANTED messages to a minimum. Please don't post the same WANTED message more than once a month.
5. No trading, please.
6. Pets may only be offered to new homes if handled legally, and with loving care.
7. Responses are set to go only to the original OFFERer or WANTer. It keeps down the sheer # of e-mails.
8. Arrange the exchange as you like. Generally, 1st responded=1st served, but not necessarily. If a charity responds, you may want to give them a 1st shot.
9. "Two strikes and you're out".

Examples:

Subject: OFFER: old couch. (Midtown)
Clean, but old, overstuffed couch near 6th & Clinton.

Subject: TAKEN: old couch. (Midtown)
Thanks, Freecycle

Subject: WANTED: PC monitor. (12th & Willow)
Struggling college student needs new monitor!

Subject: RECEIVED: PC Monitor. (12th & Willow)
