Hello all finished the fox-digi kit and and hooked up to hyper terminal power up
the unit and get no message, not sure if i have the correct cable for the digi

on the fox digi end. I read somewhere that it takes a null modem cable and then
somewhere else that it didn't so not really sure what cable i should use, and
would like to know before i buy a null modem cable, and then find out that isn't
the problem. when hooked to the serial cable and computer and powered up the RX
led flashes aprox once per second. Have +12v input and +5v at the regulator on
c2. Te kit is a 141208. Any help greatly apprediated.

Thanks to all who replied to my question about nothing in hyperterminal got a
cable today and everything worked great. Don't have the radio cable finished yet
but hope to have it on the air for trial in a day or so and at the site soon.
Thanks again for the help, this is a really nice kit/product and have already
been spreading the word. 73 de Kenny/AB8XG

I tried to calibrate my FC-2A and adjusting the C9/A trimmer capacitor does not
change the frequency. I am using a laboratory standard 10.000 mhz source. The
frequency stays at 10.00072 mhz and will not move. What are some ideas to fix
this problem?

The other day I noticed that my tracker had not been updating on aprs-fi
http://aprs.fi./?call=kd5ckp-14&mt=m&z=16&timerange=3600
So I stopped and checked the radio and the FT. The FT ws stuck in
xmit. I reset the power and as soon as the GPS got a lock and the FT
went into XMIT and it locked again. I hope it has not smoked my finals
in the radio, but I would like to know if anyone knows what may be
going on. It has worked flawlessly for months and now something is
wrong.

Please reply to the group.
I think it is silly to have a group that sends replies to individuals.
It defeats the purpose of sharing information.

The problem is present just now ? before it's work fine ?

Yes the problem has just occurred in the last few days.
The tracker has been working fine for months.

With my Kenwood TR-751e and the FoxDigi i have the same problem, and after a little brainstorming ;) i have find the solution, but the FoxDigi is very different, but perhaprs it's the same problem.

Other question when the TM-261A switch in transmit mode, do you have the LED TX on ?

Yes the TX LED is on constant after the first TX. It never goes out. This is the new problem I have been referring to. I don't know what the problem may be. Firmware fried, bad connection somewhere, whatever, but it has worked well all along. Curious if anyone has encountered this and how they resolved it.

With the version v4.0 of the PIC programm your coordinates are
automatically stored when receiving a packet sent from a specific call
(no manual entry).

To set your call, see the doc of JA0POR :

The foxdigi is a fill-in digi and designed to work as a stand-alone unit. If you connect any TNC to UI-View you need to select the correct model and UI-View, on startup, will change the TNC to conv (converse) mode and then issue a string of commands to set it to function correctly with UI-View. Unless you have created a template for the foxdigi (or obtained one from somewhere else) simply connecting it to UI-View will not achieve what you want.

There is a similar unit to the foxdigi available from Cross Country Wireless (http://www.crosscountrywireless.net/aprs_tnc.htm) and they have the settings for using it with UI-View. I have tried that with the foxdigi without success. I believe that the foxdigi, even though you can put it in converse mode, does not have the capacity to operate as a TNC with UI-View.

So far as your configuration is concerned, that is all correct. As you can now see the problem is elsewhere.

the problem that i was having was that the audio was very weak. The VX-150 uses
the same pin for ptt and mic on the 4 pole plug, after a little searching and
experementing i came up with a .001mf mylar cap and a 2.2k ohm resistor between
the ptt pin and the mic pin on the foxdigi DB9 plug and only the mic wire going
to the radio and it is working great no problems now. Thanks again for all the

Hello everybody.

I was surprised to see my Fox Delta website name listed on
http://www.echolink.org under interfaces linked to Lone-star in TX, owned by
Marc Lacy/W5TXR.

Please note that, foxdelta do not have any dealers or distributors anywhere and
we only sell kits directly to radio amateurs to keep prices low.

Lone-star owner Marc Lacy did purchase one foxecho-k7 from foxdelta and wanted
to sell these foxecho-k7 kits thru his business. We have never made any
arrangement nor we have ever supplied foxecho-k7 kits for resell to him or his
company.

Marc Lacy, wanted to sell other kits thru hemfest in TX and I(VU2FD) did send
him on his personal name, kits like FT, MiniTNC, FC2, ST1 etc on one month
credit, on my personal account.
Although he sold kits supplied by me on credit for sales at hemfest, he has not
paid me even after two months.
Moreover, it was made very clear to him that, if he can not sell credited kits
at hemfest etc, he is free to return to my address in NV/USA, which too, he has
not done so far.

This is only clear any misunderstanding that people may have from unauthorized
link placed by echolink.

I hope owners/admin of echolink, who are reputed and hardworking people take
necessary action in this regard.

I recently lost my PIC due to RF or other circumstances. I acquired a
new programmed PIC from Dinesh (Thank you Dinesh). Unfortunately that
has not resolved the problem completely. The tracker no longer locks
in transmit, but new problems exist.

The tracker is heard and understood maybe 1% of the time. you can look
at aprs.fi http://aprs.fi./?call=kd5ckp-14 and see that the tracker is
being heard, but you can look at the raw packet data
http://aprs.fi./?c=raw&call=KD5CKP-14 and see that the beacon data is
inconsistent from one packet to the next.

We have placed the tracker on a scope and can see that the voltages
and audio are as they should be through R8-11, R12, and C8. The audio
levels are good as heard through other receivers and when checked with
the oscope. I am not sure how we can check the baud rate to confirm
proper operation of the oscillator, but for some reason the packets
are not being decoded.

Does anyone have suggestions on repairing or calibrating the tracker
so it will again function properly?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I ordered the FC2 and the HF SWR Meter kits back on May 29th knowing that it was
a Holiday weekend. I was notified on June 4th that the FC was being sent via
mail with a #. No information was provided for the HF SWR kit. When I check
the # for the FC2 it still shows that only the shipper has notified the post
office it will be shipped, no information that it was processed nor where it is
located now. So I'm wondering, is Fox Delta really shipping anything? Should I
cancel my credit card charge? Has anyone gotten any communication from Fox
Delta once they've made an order or have yo been left in limbo also?

Hello John

Please note that both the items were dispatched to you and they are on its way.
As stated on my website, it takes 8 to 14 days for Registered airmail.
2CO/Paypal has provided you RR numbers for both kits. FC2: RR731528295IN on 5th
June and RR731528043IN on 2nd June HFSWR.

Kindly do not worry about status you find on USPS web page. It only indicate
that packet is on its way to US. Status will soon change.

Please wait for couple of days more and let post deliver it to you. If you do
not receive kit that I have dispatched, I will refund your payment.

Regards/Dinesh

Hello,

>I am very interested to see this.

This my config (foxdigi first version)

ECHO ON
TXDELAY 110
GPS $GPGGA
TRace OFF
MONitor ALL
DIGIpeater ON
BEACON On EVERY 30
UNPROTO WIDE1-1 V WIDE2-2
MYCALL F1SRC-1
MYALIAS WIDE1-1
BTEXT !4740.00N/00307.00W#W1-1 TEST FoxDigi

With this config is work fine, a important element is the audio level from the
transceiver, if you connect a PC on the serial connector you see the data when
the audio level is good. Adjust also the TXDELAY this value depend of your
transceiver.

In fact when you have this config of the digi it's work :
UNPROTO WIDE1-1 V WIDE2-2
MYCALL F1SRC-1
MYALIAS WIDE1-1

If you have for example this the digi don't work :
UNPROTO APRS-0 V WIDE1-1 V WIDE2-2
MYCALL F1SRC-1
MYALIAS WIDE1-1

If you have it's work :
UNPROTO APRS-0 V WIDE1-1 V WIDE2-2
MYCALL F1SRC-1
MYALIAS APRS-0

Do you see ?, in the line UNPROTO the first element (like WIDE1-1) is the same
element of the MYALIAS line (like WIDE1-1).

Have a nice day

Hello all
last week I received the FoxDigi and during this weekend I had some free time to
setup the unit.
Kenwood tm-231 8 pin connector going to serial d9f.
Audio jack from the back of the radio, to pin 5
PTT pin 2 (radio) to pin 3 (d9f)
MIC pin 1 (radio) to pin 1 (d9f)
8 and 7 GND (radio) to pin 6 (d9f)

the RX led lights up in I'm receiving
the TX led lights up when I'm trasmitting

I can here the audio from another radio, when I do calibrate

The unit works, because I can see the traffic online
http://aprs.fi/?c=raw&call=VA3ITA-1

What I'm trying to achive is to digitally repeated other aprs stations.
For example, the 5w handheld that I have in my car, connected with a TT4, cannot
reach directly other igate or digipeater (one packet after several beacons)
I can ear my mobile aprs station (20 meters away from me
http://aprs.fi/?c=raw&call=VA3ITA-1 ) but seems that the foxdigi is not relaying
the message to other digistation or igate.

This is my current config (by looking at several config file from this forum)

ECHO ON
TXDELAY 110
GPS $GPGGA
TRace OFF
MONitor ALL
DIGIpeater ON
BEACON On EVERY 1
UNPROTO WIDE1-1 V WIDE2-2
MYCALL VA3ITA-1
MYALIAS WIDE1-1
BTEXT !4356.00N/07948.07W#W1-1 FoxDigi

I want to run the unit as standalone digipeter.
Antenna, radio and FoxDigi. Nothing also.NO GPS, no display.

Currently
SW1 is 1 ON 2 ON
SW2 is 1 OFF 2 OFF

I'm not able to see the current traffic going trough the digifox. yestarday
night, I was getting some lines, but I don't know why it's not working anymore

Thank you and best 73
