Summary:
The function of this position is to assist in
the maximization of shareholder value through sustainable forestry by
completing a division wide survey of geologic-related assets that can be
commercially converted to revenue. These assets can include, but are not
limited to, building materials, sand and gravel, aggregates, lime rock,
phosphate, oil, gas and coalbed methane, heavy mineralized sands (e.g.
Ilmenite, rutile, luecoxene, zircon, etc.), ground water and related
resources. Additionally, the geologist should make recommendations on how
to increase non-timber revenue by networking with other resource
professionals, keeping abreast of changes in the minerals markets and
educate Rayonier employees on these issues.
Requirements:
Experience/Knowledge: 5 years of experience.
Extensive geo-technical knowledge related to a wide array of mineral
based assets capable of generating significant revenues for shareholders.
General knowledge of geology and mining impacts and mitigation for water
quality and wetland impacts.Good written and oral communication skills. Ability
to work with people of varied backgrounds and diverse interests.
Education: Masters of Science Degree Licensed Geologist preferred
