After a long rain Wed and Wed night the Green is brown and running near a 200%
level. The small drainage beside the house looks like a sure enough creek this
morning.

any one interested?

I ran it last week at 3 foot and it took three hours to run both sections, would
like to start early in order to be able to pick up my son from school at 3:30.

I will check the level at 08:00 and be back at home about 08:15.

give me a shout,

Looking for a Sunday morning paddle on my way back to Raleigh.  Wilson Creek is looking good right now, but I'm open to suggestions.  Anyone else want to run it?  I'd like to warm-up on the upper Wilson then do the gorge.  Let me know if you're interested.

We had a nice paddle down Hominy Creek. Definitely not class III but it had a
few class II rapids and interesting scenery along the flat sections.

Leon,

I paddled this many years ago.  We took out at the confluence with the French Broad, and I don’t recall where we put in.  Not much whitewater.  The biggest hazards were sewer lines crossing the creek.  They behave like low water bridges and depending on the water level they either form strainers, dams/ledges., or are completely underwater.  It’s a small creek so watch out for woody debris.

Kayak helmets can be dammaged in doing their job. Some of the hardest hits I've ever taken have been playing in easy rapids, and I've run lots of class 5. I am not sure what sweet's policy is, but some companies have a lower cost "crash replacement policy". (Shred Ready does if you want a decent helmet with this policy) This would still cost something to replace the helmet if you cracked it, but not full retail.
I've never been mad at safety gear that gave its life to save mine.

How does the class of rapid matter? Was the helmet defective or did you take a really, really hard hit? I agree on the limited protection offered by the Strutter. I spend too much time upside down to rely on minimal coverage.
