St. Claude/N Rampart Streetcar Expansion Update
RTA Board to Vote on Combined UPT to Press Street at Board Meeting Today
TfNOLA has some great news: the RTA has incorporated our recommendations and will now be submitting a combined UPT to Press Street alignment to the federal government's TIGER Discretionary Grant program for funding!
Because the RTA did not have a quorum at its June 25th meeting, they rescheduled their meeting for today, July 1st, where the RTA and its consultants will bring their revised recommendation to the RTA Board. We need your help: we know it is late notice, but please come today to show the board that the neighborhoods are in support of this combined UPT to Press Street alignment, and thank them for incorporating neighborhood and community input into this process.
What you can do:
1. If you have not done so, please sign our resolution. Tell everyone you know to do the same!
2. Attend the RTA Board Meeting:
WHEN: TODAY! Wednesday, July 1st, 11:30AM
WHERE:
RTA Headquarters
2817 Canal Street (one block lakeside of Broad Street)
New Orleans, LA 70119
The meeting is held in the first room to the right upon entering the office trailers.
Please submit a comment card upon entering so that you can be heard!
Be sure to bring a picture ID!
At the Board Meeting, be sure to thank and encourage the RTA for submitting the COMBINED ALIGNMENT that joins the proposed Loyola Avenue line and French Quarter loop, running from the UPT to Press Street.
“Cross Canal Now, Cross Press Street Later!”
3. Continue to show community support for streetcar expansion! As the planning process unfolds over the coming months, input from neighborhoods and community stakeholders, business and property owners, and residents will be critical in making sure that the RTA's application is successful. Please stay tuned for how you can help bring streetcars to your neighborhood.Sign Up for TfNOLA's Email List
