In response to the profile given to Christian groups with right of center theology and political persuasion, we have decided that the time is right for a left wing voice to give balance to both the media and the Church.

Our aim is to form a group drawing on those who hold to a progressive Christian faith and have left of center political convictions.


The purpose of the group is:


To provide a website space for articles expressing Christian left thought (go to www.focal.org.nz)
To have people who are prepared to respond in the media to articles where right wing thought is expressed, and to give interviews directly to the media when opinion is sought
To provide educational material encouraging a balanced view of Christian politics, including social justice, social policy and the environment
Eventually to create a Christian left “think-tank” capable of assessing government policies and providing submissions in all areas, including race and international relations, economics, health, education, social policy, law and human rights
To have a regular e-newsletter, meetings and events
Network with and promote the work of other organisations with views and policies that are compatable with FOCaL and contribute to the life and well being of New Zealand and the planet.
