Fluoride Free Group Ireland is dedicated to reversing the mandatory fluoridation of water in Ireland.

Since the early 60's Ireland's municipal drinking water has been fluoridated by ministerial decree without adequate consultation of the Irish people.

Ireland is the only country in Europe with mandatory fluoridation of the water supply. All other countries in Europe have since reversed their water fluoridation policies because of the many independent research studies that have shown the toxic nature of fluoride to the human body. Extensive independent research has linked it (among other things) to dental fluorosis, hip fractures in the elderly, lower IQ in children, thyroid disorders, osteosarcoma (bone cancer), and osteoporosis. There may be other medical conditions as of yet unknown or inadequately researched.

A recent (2002) Irish Government investigation, The Fluoridation Forum, to quell people's disquiet on mandatory water fluoridation, rubber stamped the original decision to introduce mandatory water fluoridation in Ireland. The forum failed to adequately consider conflicting evidence about the toxic nature of water fluoridation, it also failed to question why Ireland is the only remaining country in Europe still imposing mandatory water fluoridation. The report concluded that water fluoridation is still 'safe and effective'.

However we believe this conclusion is in error. We believe the report is deeply flawed, that it ignores important independent scientific research on the toxicity of fluoride and that it uneccessarily risks the health of people in Ireland by the continued mandatory fluoridation of the water supply.

This forum is a responsible movement that seeks to reverse the mandatory fluoridation of the water supply in Ireland through sharing and imparting important information and knowledge of the adverse effects of water fluoridation on babies, children, adults and the elderly.
