United States Coast Guard Auxiliary
Flotilla 014-02-02, "2003- Best Flotilla in the U.S."
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is an all-volunteer organization that was formed in 1939 to support the US Coast Guard. For more than 60 years the Auxiliary has worked side-by-side with the active duty and reserves in the US Coast Guard.
Our Flotilla belongs to Division 2 in District 1 (Southern Region). Our Area of Responsibility is centered on
Sandy Hook.
Sandy Hook is a 6 1/2 mile long barrier peninsula that includes miles of guarded ocean beaches for swimming and other beaches for fishing, as well as hiking trails, salt marshes and the historic site of Fort Hancock. The tip of the Hook overlooks the entrance to New York Harbor and is the northern point along the New Jersey Shore.
The members of Division 2 patrol the waters surrounding Sandy Hook and the Navesink and Shrewsbury rivers and are ready at a moments notice to respond to any emergency. The members of Division 2 live by the words Semper Paratus (Always Ready).
