Florida Airboat Association - access to flooded areas
Florida Airboat Association ratifies CERT involvement The Florida Airboat Association today ratified a motion that will involve the Association and its 37 comprising local county clubs in the CERT program, at its quarterly meeting. A proposal, presented by Robert Dummett, chairman of the FAA's Safety Committee, and member of the Florida CERT Association, demonstrated through newspaper accounts, TV video footage, photographs and personal experience how the airboating community can benefit the citizens of Florida by providing a unique and valuable resource in the event of flooding or other natural disasters. The flooding events that occurred following Hurricane Jeanne and the assistance provided by members of the Florida Airboat Association to the residents of the Peace Creek RV & Mobile Home Park, near Lake Wales, was used as an example of how airboats can be of benefit during a flood event. The Florida Airboat Association is eager to start working with local CERT coordinators in setting up training sessions and deployment criteria. For further information on the Florida Airboat Association and its affiliates go to: www.flairboat.com or contact the Florida Airboat Association via email at: flairboat@flairboat.com
