Upper Mount. Fork water levels   Message List

Donna:

I went back to Memorial Day weekend on the USGS tables and it looks like the
water depth was showing 8 feet when we went down there and the water speed was
about 300 cfs. Keep in mind that 8ft doesn't mean that it's really that deep.
It's a relative sort of measurement only at the point of the guages. The actual
depth at the time was more like 3 feet most places and there were rocky shelves
where it was quite technical to pick you way through at those levels. In short,
I'd look for 8 feet minimum and at least 275 cfs for a decent paddle on the UMF.
It looks like the Lower Mountain Fork is getting back to pretty good levels.
Keep an eye on that section. I think you'll enjoy it a lot more. I can't commit
to the weekend of the 25th yet as Donna and I are in the process of replacing a
vehicle after a wreck last weekend but if everything gets resolved, maybe we can
meet you down in BB for that weekend if the water levels stay up.

Al

You and Donna1 have more in common than just your names apparently. She seems to greatly prefer going through rapids and over waterfalls and rock shelves...
