Conroi FitzOsbern is a group of like-minded individuals dedicated to presenting, as accurately as possible, the military life of an 11th century soldier. Specifically, we portray a unit of the household troops of William FitzOsbern between the years AD 1054 and AD 1071. As a Living History group, our primary focus is on the highest levels of authenticity based on current research, archaeology, and scholarship. Our primary purpose is to educate ourselves and others about the Medieval era. We also take part in reenactments, such as the live steel Battle of Hastings in England, but understand the limitations placed on such activities for the sake of modern convenience and safety. Our membership is open to everyone with an interest in 11th century military matters, a willingness to maintain high standards, and a desire to go the extra mile.
Please note that this group is dedicated to serious living history, and any member who reguarly makes posts contrary to that goal will be removed. Also note that this Egroup is first and foremost a means of communication for the living history group Conroi FitzOsbern, and secondarily a forum for more broad membership and discussion for Norman living history. At this time, it is not my intention to exclude a wide geographic range of members to this forum, but such policy is subject to change depending on what direction FitzOsbern takes.
