Jeff, I read this book you speak of and it full
of lessons for Filipina as well as man. It reveal
much about relationships among family members and
their reaction to girls marriage with western-man.
<br><br>These are things very good for man to know early in
relationship long before he even visit. It help him understand
woman he court better and what commitments she has to
family and how he fit in in level of respect to her
family. Also, what he should consider in commitments he
may make to help her family so he not get caught in
middle. One of main reasons i see my friends break off
courtship or their suitor break off is misunderstanding
over her family relationship. <br><br>I believe
lessons from date book will very much help man be more
successful in courtship on us filipina. we hard to discuss
such things with western man so it hard for him to

It seems to me that she might want anyone in her
family to know she is corresponding with you. I wouldn't
be surprised that she doesn't have a phone, but it
seems to me that the family would have a phone, or the
neighbors would pitch in for one phone to share. I met a
woman in Davao who had this arrangement. It seemed to
work out well for them. I had an experience with a
filipina here on uam where she only gave me her work
number and not her home number. She turned out to be
married, so be very cautious! The idea of her finding a
friend who has a phone is a good one, I think. She could
just use a pay phone too, as long as you arrange for
her to be there at a particular time. Also, don't
they have those international phone places there? You
know, where there is a room of phones you can use?
<br><br>On the other side, I visited an island in the
southern Philippines where there were no phones at all. In
fact, there was no mail service---the people had to go
to Davao to get their mail. So, you never know for
sure!

observations, <br><br>1.
Henry may have been a victim of
unfortunate<br>circumstances, but may have avoided many of them if maybe he
would have studied into the Filipina culture a little
more. <br><br>2. As my girlfriend from there pointed
out to me, all people (Filipina included) are
individuals with their own free will to choose whether to do
right or wrong. She felt the girl in the book was
acting selfishly and wasn't being truthful with Henry
about her other suitor.<br><br>3. Once a Filipina gives
in to our Western culture<br>(especially sex before
marriage) - the chances of a truly happy marriage are the
same as if she were from here. It's just basic human
nature.<br><br>So I guess the point to be made is (and I think
you've brought this out in your e-book very well) is
that everybody is different and we have to be careful
and yes, correspond with many before making a choice
to pursue courtship.<br><br>Getting back to the
book, I was perturbed because it portrayed what I think
is a general sterotype of us Westerners (which is
not always true) that we are arrogant, drink a lot
and just want sex from submissive Asian
women.<br><br>None of that's true in my case - and I don't think it
was in Henry's either in the beginning - but he
portrayed himself as that throughout the book by their
actions and experiences they had.<br><br>I know his
experience had to be heartbreaking,<br>spending all that
time and money and then having a<br>woman, who in my
mind - was worse than any Western<br>woman I know. It
was a sad ending and I really felt sorry for Henry in
the end. (but we don't know her side of the story
either).<br><br>I have been courting this girl I met because of her
character, not because I want her for a wife/maid or just
for sex, I truly feel our likes and outlook on life
are very similar - and everything that I thought
would be an obstacle, we have overcome.<br><br>And we
are both seeking God's will on our relationship and
asking for His guidance.<br><br>But in all honesty Jean,
I don't think I could have gotten to this stage
without having daily contact with her via email. I could
see how in Henry's case, snail-mail and phone calls
makes it hard to really get to know a person.<br><br>I
truly believe both partners must have something in
common to really make a marriage work.<br><br>I'll keep
you posted on how it goes.<br><br>Please forgive me,
I don't mean to sound judgemental, for I believe we
can get something good out of bad experiences -
lessons to be learned and mistakes to avoid in the future
- so yes, from that point of view, it was worth

My friends say when they feel man's photo is old
they do not reply. Looks may not be as important as to
American woman but still important. <br><br>We want to see
if he well groomed / clean looking guy, "now," and
see if look sick and just make sure his general looks
acceptable. Being real handsome not the issue as many friends
feel they more problem in marriage.<br><br>So guys get
a recent pic that shows face clearly and gives idea
of body shape but do not:<br><br>(1) send nude pics
if you want a friend and reply;<br>(2) giant pics as
most computers here older and pics files over 100k
(under 50k best) just cause big problem;<br>(3) pics

not unique. Many women lie about having children,
especially if the children are being raised by their Mothers

.And, we would marry. I gave her money to pay for the
process of her visa. I sent the papers involved in her
visa ,to her. Because, i trusted her. I waited 10

finally sent a Fax to the American Consulate General.
They returned the Fax saying they did not see any
papers or the lady who was wanting the Visa.This is
after the lady told me several times she turned the
papers in to them. <br><br>This lady went back to the
Philipines for a vacation last Christmas. When she returned
to Hong Kong she would not write me a letter or
except my phone call. She called me one time to tell me
she needed more money for her Visa. I ask her what
happened to the money i sent her. She said she spent it on
something else.<br><br> When we was corresponding she told
me she had no children. When i got to Hong Kong she
said she lied that she has 2 daughters.<br><br> One
main thing is she lied about children ,she lied about
Loving me( which no one cant truthly say by just one
meet and corrospondence). She repeated (I love You)
several times in here letters.And she says she goes to
Church every sunday.Which i dont think she does. My
belief is, She has to be fooling herself about Loving
God. I know she fooled me.<br><br> You should tell all
your clients or customers that if they start saying "I
LOVE YOU" in their corrospondence before you even know
them good enough. Then drop them now. They are

These plans involved my relatives who were going to
