I do not understand what you mean by "the church donīt like him".
I think that the Church has a strong inffluence
of Neotomism, so the Theology is almost from a
"realist" point of view. As you know Kant may be
or could be labeled as a "idealist". If the mind
creates the reality, you have litle chance to
prove the existence of God. As you know in the
Critique of Pure Reason Kant points to a
incapability of pure reason to prove some things,
that is: that the world have a begining, that the
world was created, that God exists, etc.. You can
see it in what Kant say about "antinomies of pure reason".
However, Kant was Lutheran. Perhaps this close
the question! By my lights, I think Kant is in
Fideism: the reason cannot prove the faith. Perhaps I am wrong.
You can try Walter Brugger Dictionary of
Philosophy for a traditional point of view. I donīt know what Gilson says.
