A safe place for men and women to discuss issues of importance to those who consider themselves "feminists," "pro feminists" or those who simply oppose sexism. I started this group for many reasons. Among them is my personal belief that men should be encouraged to use the word "feminist" to describe themselves. I'd also like to combat the stereotype that all feminists are "man haters." This group has also evloved into a place where men who may be new to feminist ideas can learn and grow. I'm not a scholar, nor am I particularly well read or informed on "feminism," but I do believe in the adage that feminists believe in the radical notion that women are people. I also believe that's the most important place to start. NOTE: I really want this to be a “safe” place for discussion, so don't hold back, but PLEASE BE GENTLE WHEN OFFERING ADVICE, DISAGREEMENT, OR DISSENT… ESPECIALLY TO PEOPLE “NEW” IN THEIR AWARENESS OF FEMINIST THEORY AND VALUES!
