Re: [Fayette PA] Edward & Ola F Brown (b German TWSP abt 1873 and 1879)

Jay, The McBurney's!...That makes you almost family. My dad and all his
brothers and sisters moved from New Salem in the 1960s, most of them just
north-east of Baltimore MD. However, we visited New Salem, as a group, at least
a few times every year and without fail, someone always brought up talking with,
going to visit or borrowing butter from your Gr Aunt, Mrs. McBurney. LOL!
When my grandparents finally died in the early 1980s the children agreed that
their property should be sold to Dearths so that the funeral home could finally
have a parking lot. One of these days I'll have to include my dad's story about
playing hide-n-seek in the funeral home.

someone still lives there.  The McBurney's.  It's Clark Dearth that runs the
funeral home now.  He is a 3rd cousin of mine as well.  A very small world.

They appear in the 1880 census but are missing from subsequent census. Ola is
listed as female in the 1880 Fed Census but it appears that the scribe tried to
reconcile a female and son conflict by changing Ola's sex to male. Bottom line,
I don't know what sex Ola is. Both parents are buried in Salem View Cemetery but
neither Edward or Ola are buried in adjacent graves. Any help is appreciated.
