You did not insult me, as I would be one of the first to agree that the county
officials don't give a da** about preserving, cleaning, or keeping records of
county cemeteries. The Fayette County Home was in existance since late 1800s to
about 1960s. there was a cemetery for ones that had died there or didn't have
funds to be buried. About 5 years ago, the buildings torn down and land was "
redevoloped" for a industerial complex. The cemetery is now under the complex
There are only TWO stones left. Of course county officials denie this, but can
not explain whsat happened to the hundreds of graves, and to top it off they
have no record of burials there. At least no one in the courthouse could tell me
where to find the records. In the past there public records kept, but our modern
public officials, with a very few exceptions, don't care about cemeteries,
records, unless they cam make money form it.
Had you been on this site in the Spring you would have heard about a used car
dealer putting his junked cars on cemetery property for years, and violating
zoning laws. The county commissioners were are checking on the problem, or so
they say, but so far NOTHING has changed .
If it wewen't for the dedicated volenteers on on this List and others, there
would be very few records, and would be as bad or alot worse than other
counties.
There might be some who might not agree with how our public officials serve
us, but that is the way I see it. Most of workers in Court house will do what
they can to help, but they can only find records that are there.
No, Marlene you didn't insult me, at all, but we all should be insulted by the
way our public officials preserve the history of Fayette County.
Guess I have said enough for now.

I hope you weren't insulted by what I said about the way our county keeps
records of cemeteries. I certainly didn't mean it that way. The only cemeteries
I've been close enough to physically check was for my husband's family and right
here where we live.
I'm sure if I went back to my hometown, there'd be far less than anything
Fayette Co has done! Most counties aren't even online..which Tuscarawas Co is
not.. so I've been very grateful to be able to talk to others doing geneology
and checking things right there in Fayette Co. You all have given me a lot of
suggestions of where to look for certain things and people. I am ever so
grateful!! I would have never known to send for my grandmother's death
certificate which gave me the answer to which cemetery she's in if it hadn't
been for someone on this site!
In a nutshell...I'm very grateful to all of you for what you've done for me ...
and many, many others!!

I told you that this List would would do what they could to help you. This List
is like the old Fayette List, was at one time. There are many researchers that
will do their best to help.
I have found in my research, many times when I find a answer, it just raises
more questions.
Take care
