SB 566 (Ticer) is similar to HB 1048 (Kory), except that the former was drafted
to add a new Careless Driving provision. Both bills would prohibit drivers from
following bicyclists too closely or from passing with less than a 3-foot gap.
Senator Ticer, however, plans to drop the Careless Driving provision when SB 566
comes before the Senate Transportation Committee this afternoon (starting at 2
PM) today, January 28. That's because the bill would likely be re-referred to a
second committee where it would probably be killed.
Senator Chap Petersen (Fairfax)

except for Senator Ticer, the patron of SB 566.

Please call and/or email Sen. Petersen's office this morning or at least before
2 PM this afternoon.
