Hello everybody, I am new in the area and I am looking for persons who
play role plying games in asociations or individuals so please let me
know.
Thanks.
Apologies firstly for this as, as it's strictly not gaming related...
However, long long ago in a university not that far away some
students made a very bad farce of Babylon 5, called Fabulon 75 and
many of them lurk on this group and I don't have any other way of
contacting them...
I have Fabulon 75 on DVD a friend copied the video for me.
We've converted it to a streamable uploadable source but the problem
is size! the file is about a gig and would need to be split into 10
to go on youtube. The alternative was hosting it on my site, not a
problem as I have lots of space, but I have a bandwith issue, I can
only use half a gig of bandwidth a month - so that won't work.
The only solution we can come up with is - if you want a copy, please
send (or give if you are around here) a blank dvd and an sae to:
Gareth & Gillean Lazelle
18 Sentrys Orchard
Exminster
Exeter
EX6 8UD
and we will burn you a copy.

Hi All
Thought I'd just post some news from last couple of months which might be of
interest to gamers in Exeter.
Krackers, in Fore Street, has been bought by a comic store company (can't
remember name). As far as I know it will continue to stock pretty much what it
does now.
The Exeter University GameSoc forum has moved location to
http://xmedia.ex.ac.uk/forums/viewforum.php?f=43, as the boards were upgraded
Clifton Road Games has a forum at http://www.cliftonroadgames.co.uk/forum/, for
discussion of events etc at the shop.
And for anyone who didn't know, Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition has been
announced by Wizards of the Coast for June of next year. Information on the
Wizards website at http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/welcome, or at EN
World at http://www.enworld.org/index.php?page=4e
Happy Gaming!

Hi,
this is my first post.
Is someone interested in playing Magic the Gathering? Just for fun.
I'm not an expert (which is to say that I'm really bad...), but I used
to play it some years back and now I became interested again.
Just let me know and I'll go and buy a deck ('cos I have mines in
Spain :( )
Hi again folks,
We have Traders! Just a quick note to say that we now know the
traders that are attending the show on March 3rd - although there may
be a couple of late surprises! The list can be found on the show
site, www.legionary.info
We have Games! Latest news is that a small (but very welcome!) army
of people are coming down to run games of both Cold War Commander and
Blitzkrieg Commander (see www.blitzkrieg-commander.com), putting us
up to 18 games running on the day. Also Mike Lewis at
www.BlackHat.co.uk has kindly sent some Giant Tribal Martian
gentlemen to give out to players of the Martian Empires game.
We have a free figure on the door! *Maybe*. One of the traders is
making a figure just for us, and if the production issues are sorted
out in time, they'll be given away on the door. Subject to numbers
and production issues being sorted out and not yet guaranteed...
We have competitions! Exeter based club Ryga's Roughneck's have
posted details of the Warhammer 40K competition on their site here -
http://www.rygasroughnecks.com/40k%20tournament.html
Due to space considerations, the Warmachine/Hordes competition is
limited to 8 places - email us to book a place.
Come along and check the show out!

The confirmed events we have are some D&D, Heavy Gear, Warhammer Fantasy
Roleplay, with a non-serious Sitting Ducks Boardgame Tournament. In addition
there will be a good mix of boardgames and boardgamers available, from
Carcasonne to Puerto Rico, Game of Thrones to Hey! thats My Fish!.
Several other people are running RPGS, with final details to be confirmed.
General Details can be found at

There is Schedule and Events information at

Following further communication with Captain Caveman of NetGamer,
turns out that we wouldn't get the Pippa Langston Room - we'd have the
Lemon Grove bit with the DJ booth, so there'd be plenty of room.
Given that, I presume there's no real problem..?
The Pippa Langston is a really bad room, and won't fit four decent
sized RPG's like we've got at the moment. Duncan's group won't be
present, but still...
I'd really be happier if we didn't change. Any idea how big the
netgamer thing is? We could quite easily halve the refectory.
I just don't think the Pippa Langston is big enough for a term time
meeting.

The room sucks, but if that's our only option, and it's for one week
only, then it'll be liveable.
JCR still booked? Wonder if they're actually going to use it this time...

So, as my previous post hopefully stated, NetGamer politely asked if
they could swap rooms this Sunday, as besides their LAN party they are
planning to run a pub quiz, which would obviously function better were
it to have the bar adjacent, like wot the Refectory does.
Before going ahead and telling them that we're fine with the Pippa
Langston room that they'd be giving us in exchange (for one week only,
I hasten to add), I'm running the offer past all members. Should
anyone have any violent objections to the plan, please make yourself
known so that I can inform them.
Thank you.
While we are booked for the Cornwall House Refectory for the remainder
of term, it has come to my attention that nobody is actually utilising
the JCR at all. NetGamer asked yesterday if they could swap rooms
with us since they'd like the bar-adjacent area for their LAN party
and quiz in the evening.
Since the JCR is the preferred location for us anyway, would a student
member out there be interested in acquiring the rights to be up there
instead, since no one else is using it?
Hi All
Last year known as NotExeUniCon, this year's event is once again on the May
Day bank holiday (4th-7th May) at Clifton Road Games in Exeter, focussing on
RPGs and Board Games.
There is a general information thread at
http://xnet.ex.ac.uk/forums/index.php/topic,17555.0.html, and another thread
at http://xnet.ex.ac.uk/forums/index.php/topic,18097.0.html has details of
events and scheduling, which will fill up as we get nearer to the convention
date. If anyone is interested in running a game then just post on the thread
or send me an email.
Most of the games will run on the Saturday and Sunday, with some short
events on the Friday evening and random games on the Monday for any
survivors. Last year we went for a meal at Tyepyedong in Sidwell Street, and
anyone interested in going for food on the Friday can find information in
the thread at http://xnet.ex.ac.uk/forums/index.php/topic,18098.0.html
Usually we get a good mix of local gamers, students and returning exeter
gamers at the event, so feel free to come along even if it's only for a
couple of hours. If you have any queries or comments, then send me an email
or post on one of the threads in the links above.
Cheers,
Duncan

After the confusion last week, be assured that this week the location
of the society'd meeting is fine. This week - and every week for the
remainder of term - we shall be meeting in the Refectory of Cornwall
House, Sunday 2-10.
Mister Crane has been kind enough to allow us the use of Clifton Road
Games in the absense of another venue this week.
Times will be from roughly midday until five of the P.M. No long,
late-running games this week, please!
So, after the fortnight of inactivity - hopin' you all had a merry
Christmas and happy New Year - the University Games Society shall be
meeting again this sunday, 2-10, in the refectory of Cornwall House.
