This mailing list is for anyone who has been in a cult, a high-demand or spiritually abusive group. Former members can share and compare their experiences while supporting and helping each other overcome any problems associated with leaving. Please note that this is a list ~only~ for former cult members; it is ~not~ a list for concerned family members seeking information or advice on how to deal with their cult-involved loved one. We recommend the freedomofmind yahoogroups list serv for such people. This is not be a forum for seeking converts to another religious viewpoint, although different religions opinions may be discussed in the light of the cult experience. There are people on this list that have come out of different types of cults, bible-based, new-age, psychotherapy, eastern, etc. We ask that you respect each others viewpoints and be tolerant of each persons level of healing. We don't all heal at the same pace. This mailing list is NOT a place for debating the pros and cons of "cult/counter-cult" issues. Anyone violating the rules will be unsubscribed and given time out.

This is a resticted mailing list and approval is only give after you have completed our questionaire and made yourself known to the moderator. You will appreciate that we want this list to be a safe place where you can speak openly and freely about your cult experiences. Nevertheless, please be aware that while we do screen people, we cannot guarantee that "cult spies" will not slip in by giving all the "right answers" to our screening questionnaire. Please keep this in mind when posting to the list serv that no list serv, regardless of screening procedures, can guarantee completely confidentiality. Also, please keep in mind that this list serv is not a therapy group, nor is it intended to take the place of therapy. This is a group where ex-cult members give support to one another.
