Hey all,

we have a very exciting opportunities coming up for you.
On April 4-5, there will be BAP Regional and Leadership conference in
Seattle.
There will be accounting major students from all over northwest.
Also, there will be many presentations about interesting subject with
regard to accounting and accounting carrer, basically preparing you to
be successful in accounting career field.
Of course, you will have some inside scoops from many successful
accountants from many companies, including Big 4.
That's right!! Networking opportunities. You all know how important
it is.
I cannot emphasize enough how beneficial attending the conference.
If you are thinking about taking a position as an BAP officer, this
would be a great opportunity to learn leadership skills as well as to
show how serious you are considering the position.
Following is the website for the regional. For now, it is not quite
ready for the event schedules, but please, check back soon to have
more detail.
http://www.cbe.wwu.edu/clubs/bap/regional/

Important!!
Last quarter, we sponsors all the BAP members who attended to the
Regional for the attending fees, transportation, and lodging.
This quarter, we are not so sure how many people we can sponsor.
It all depends how many people want to go.
We like to keep sponsoring for the attendees, so please let us know
if you would like to go.
In that way, we can raise fund for the expenses.
Please keep this in mind.
We can not cover everyone, so the faster you sign up, the better
chance your expenses will be covered by us.
One more thing.
In spring quarter, we have office tours of the Big 4 in Seattle as
well as LeMaster and Daniels.
Please let us know if you would like to go.
Again, for the same reason with the Regional, it would be better if
we know as soon as possible who wants to go.

Just to let you know, we have a community service coming up soon.
One community service is required to become a member.
We will let you know as soon as we have everything set up.

The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) has two scholarship
opportunities for Accounting Majors and Criminal Justice Majors:

1) The Ritchie Jennings Memorial Scholarship
$1,000 and includes a one-year ACFE Student Associate membership
	 Application Deadline – April 17, 2009

http://www.acfe.com/Membership/students.asp?copy=scholarship

2) Spokane Chapter Financial Scholarship
	 $1,000
	 Application Deadline – April, 15, 2009

http://www.spokanefraud.org/Scholarships.htm

This is a great opportunity! I was fortunate enough to be awarded the Spokane
Chapter scholarship last year. As someone who has been an ACFE member for
several years, I can honestly say that the people in this organization are some
of the nicest people around.

Only a handful of people applied for the Spokane Chapter scholarship last year!!
We are trying to get the word out, so if you know someone who might be
interested, please pass on the information.

Thanks,

Jaimie Cheyney

PS. It is possible to be awarded both the Ritchie Jennings Memorial Scholarship,
and the Spokane Chapter scholarship, and these can be received IN ADDITION to
any scholarship received through EWU.

Would BAP be interested in helping to promote Financial Literacy events on the
EWU campus?  We have a few things planned from the Student Financial Services
Office, and an outside vendor (Monster.com).  Monster wants to come 5/5 or

Hi everyone,

I hope you saw the posting Stewart recently put out regarding the Financial
Literacy project here on campus.

It is a new project here on campus to help students stay out of debt and educate
them on the basics. If we get enough volunteers we can not only do presentations
in classrooms but also do presentations in the MPR.

This of course will count as community service but will also give you extra help
in leadership development and presentation skills. Not to mention helping
educate people about the basics of money, and as always it will look great on
your resume!

If we get enough students to start this project and really get it rolling, I
think we could make a huge impact next year!

If this sounds like something you are interested in, please contact Stewart
Maxson or Rosalie Lopez.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Thanks for your time,
Rosalie Lopez

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to put together Habitat for Humanity community service event. please
just input what times you are available for the event. The time slot with the
most available people will win the date! Please just copy and paste the link
below.

http://doodle.com/9rf48x2qak2may9d

To volunteer for habitat for humanity you don't need any experience. all you
have to do is fill out the liability waiver! I think this event will be fun, and
hopefully the weather will be awesome.

The reason why it is not on a Saturday is because they already have the
volunteer slots for Saturday filled until June. I figured that most of us don't
have any classes on Friday. I am doing my best to accommodate everyone's
schedules.

Please remember that BAP members are required to participate in at least one
community service event. Pledges you must also participate in a community
service event to become a member.

Please if you have any questions email, call or flag me down in the hallway!

Have a great night,

Hello everyone,

Thanks to the help of Career Services, we will be having a mock interview event
on Friday, September 25. There are four firms participating: LeMaster Daniels,
Moss Adams, Stewart & Associates, and Accountemps.

Mock interviews are an excellent way to prepare yourself for fall recruiting.
You will essentially have an interview and then will be given feedback on how
you did. This feedback is priceless and it could be very helpful when you
actually interview in the next few weeks.

The mock interviews are currently active on EagleAXIS. All you need to do is
submit a resume and then you should get more information as the firms decide who
will fill the limited time spots. Feel free to submit your resume to more than
one company--the more practice, the better. Also, there is limited time with
each firm and some firms are filling up their time spots quickly. If you submit
your resume to more than one firm and one of those firms has no time spots left,
you may have a chance with another firm.

Also, the mock interviews will be held at both the Cheney campus and the
Riverpoint campus. It should say on EagleAXIS where each firm is interviewing.

This is a great opportunity and I hope you all take advantage of it. The better
turn out we have, the better chance we have of getting more firms to participate
in this event in the future.

Please let me know if you have any questions. You can also contact Bernadette
Struck at Career Services, since she is the one who set up the event on
EagleAXIS for us.

Hello everyone,

Beta Alpha Psi would like to invite you to Meet the Professionals. You may have
already received an email about this event, but this email has the information
especially for students.

Meet the Professionals is an event that brings students and professionals
together allowing students to gather information and learn more about the
companies being represented. This event is an excellent networking opportunity
for students who are interested in finding a job, internship, or wanting to
learn more about the options that are available to them as accounting majors.

The companies that are attending so far are the Washington Society of Certified
Public Accountants; Moss Adams; LeMaster Daniels; Accountemps; Stewart &
Associates; BDO Seidman; Novogradac & Company; Fruci & Associates; Becker;
Dingus, Zarecor, & Associates; and Michael R. Bell & Company. Please remember
to dress appropriately--these professionals could be your future employers! We
expect you to dress business casual at the least.

Meet the Professionals will be held on Wednesday September 30, 2009 from 4:00 to
6:00 p.m. It will be located at the South Campus court which is across the
street from the phase 1 building at the Riverpoint campus. The South Campus
court is in the same building as the WSU bookstore. To enter directly, just use
the next door over from the entrance of the WSU bookstore.

If you are planning on attending, please RSVP using a poll created on this
website: http://doodle.com/bs38gwb28nrp3utu. Copy/paste this link into another
browser window and then enter your name and check that you are attending (and
save). We'd like to have a rough idea of how many people will be attending so
we have enough food and refreshments.

If you have any questions, please email us at ewu_bap@.... We hope to see
you there! Don't miss out on this great opportunity.

Thank you,
