The above will take you to some very, very slick, very fun, use of
technology. It will also admit ALL of you to the University of
Oregon, -- in God's country, in the Great Northwest of North America.

NOTE: If you go to
http://www.migratetouo.com

you can personalize -- you only need to fill in the first and last
name and pick any "location" - then click continue. I suggest reduce
the very long url using http://tinyurl.com

NOTE: Use the custom feature with Tinyurl.com with the name of the
person you "admit". For some reason, I "lose" the "custom" feature
after about five url's that lead to the same server. (Most of mine
end up: http://www.migratetouo.com/Vance

Enjoy

John

A good option is vodpod.com/
They do a Firefox plug-in which lets you post videos from vimeo directly to

Wordpress.com blogs now support the following embed codes (clip numbers are

[vimeo vimeo.com/173714] or [vimeo 173714]****

Do not use the "visual" editor mode, use the text editor mode and then
copy/paste the embed vimeo code in it. It works fine on my wordpress blog.**

I just had to make sure when I was entering the code that I was in HTML
mode (the tab is beside the "Add Media" options and the "Visual" tab when
you write an entry.) Then I wrote [vimeo vimeo.com/145325] but replaced the
numbers with the ID number of my own video (found in the URL bar when you
are viewing your video). I hit "Save" or "Publish" while still in HTML mode
and it worked!

Hi Dave
yes this time of year is so busy for a lot of us. I'm keeling over with
marking and reports :((
We had a great talk with Harry Kuchah on Sunday 11th ( who has worked with
YL and teens in Cameroon for nearly 15 years).
I think Harry would agree if I said that he wasn't there to hand out his
"pearls of wisdom" on teaching large classes. He shared his day to day work
with classes of 80 - to 160 young pupils in stifling temperatures and a
broken blackboard !
It was very interesting to see how he managed to integrate creativity and
group work into these classes and we had the rare treat of watching a video
of Harry in the classroom and under the trees!
There were folks from India and South America present who were in the same
boat as him and the conversation was very interesting.
There is a recording of the session online and I'm sure Harry will be
pleased to answer and discuss things.
Recording here http://yltsig.wordpress.com/

Bye the way Dave (and anybody else !) - if you would like to talk about
your teaching experiences then please do get in touch with us (Dennis,
myself or ffinlo)
bye for now
Helen

Dear all,

Today, I defended my PhD dissertation successfully and got PhD degree. I
would like to thank all members of this great group as I learned many things
while I was taking courses and writing my dissertation. I am specially
grateful to Arif (Altun) hocam as he introduced me to this group and helped
me throughout the MA and PhD programs. Thank you all for your inspiring
ideas. I know that all Webheads contributed to my dissertation in different
parts of the dissertation. I am proud to be a Webhead.

Best wishes,

Bravo!!! Congratulations on the successful conclusion of your PhD! I'm
sure relief is one of the words that comes to your mind together with

Your success is another great honor to the Webheads family! :-)

I'm also very proud to be a Webhead.

Thanks for the tip, I just downloaded a few episodes to my iPhone.

There's something I'd like to learn together. I learn a lot from Podcasts
but I'm not very fluent in iTunes. I'm barely functional, or barely
literate.

Due to past conditioning, I have no problem with subscribing to podcasts
via RSS feed, downloading them to my computer, finding the files through
windows explorer (must admit I like seeing where things are on my computer)
and transferring the files to my listening device. When done I can even
delete them from the listening device, either via the device itself, or by
plugging it into my computer, exploring to the location of where the files
are, and deleting them easily.

I'd be a lot more comfortable with my iPhone if I could do something
similar. I'm at the stage now where I can find podcasts on iTunes and
download them and then play them via the iPod app, but I don't really know
how to organize or delete them once I've heard them.

Basically my listening on iPhone tends to be pretty random, whatever it
gives me, if I haven't heard it, that's what I plug in my ear on my way to
work. I'm much more versatile in Windows since the podcasts all go to
separate folders, I can sort them by date and thus find the latest ones,
and I can easily manage where the files are and what I listen to on my mp3
player.

One more issue with the iTunes store is, I'm trying to find the k12-online
podcasts for 2010 and 2011. Peggy George assures us she is uploading these
files for 2011 and 2010 is the year K12 stopped podcasting in the windows
way and went over to Apple. Consequently, I was able to hear via Windows
access all the presentations from 2006 to 2009 (another HIGHLY recommended
treat) but in 2010 my apple-illiteracy stumped me. Now when I search the
iTunes store for K12 I can see the podcasts from the conferences up thru
2009, but 2010 and 2011 are hidden from me.

Would anyone like to meet online Sunday at noon GMT or 1300 at the latest
(family dinner after that for me) in Elluminate and discuss this, and help
each other out? I can contribute knowledge of where the podcasts are in
Windows, and if anyone is fluid in iProducts and can contribute that
knowledge we can learn2gether.

Visit http://learning2gether.pbworks.com (and
http://learning2gether.posterous.com for the podcasts) and let me know if
anyone is interested in meeting up on Sunday.

Thanks
Vance

Well done Dr. Sedat,

Of course we have all followed your distinguished career and that of Dr.
Rif, and we're glad to have more esteemed members of this wonderful group.

Maybe we could have you on learning2gether one Sunday and you can tell us
more about your research. I know we did this some time ago

But the recording was poor, and if you want to update us, choose a Sunday
:-)

Hi Vance,
Your email made me smile. :-) You say you are iTunes challenged and I am time
zone challenged! I would really like to join you for this conversation on Sunday
if I can figure out the right time to come. :-) Can you confirm for me that I
have this figured out? I think it is at 5:00am in Phoenix.

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=Learning2Gether+12%3A00\
+GMT+Dec+18%2C+2011+in+Elluminate&iso=20111218T12&ah=1

I think the reason you are confused about the K12 Online Conference recordings
is that they are on iTunesU and not iTunes. When you open iTunes on your iPhone
click on the search button and enter k12online11. It will bring up two
options-one is the video collection and one is the audio collection. Both have
the same content but one is audio only. Select the one you want and you will see
a list of all of the 2010 and 2011 presentations. They come up in reverse order
for me so they start with 2010. There are 84 presentations there and the final
one is the recording from the AfterGlow session reflecting on the entire 2011
conference. Be sure to scroll all the way down the page to see the 2011
presentations. If you click on any title you'll be able to view or listen to the
recording.

You can also subscribe to the recordings for the conference in iTunes on your
computer if you want to actually download them to your iphone, ipod or other
mobile player. The instructions for subscribing are located here:
http://k12onlineconference.org/?p=646

Hope we'll be able to connect on Sunday.

Peggy
