Introduction Party - March 28 at 6 PM in Toronto, Canada   Message List
Reply Message #14 of 141 |
Hello Everyone !!

We look forward to meeting all the ESL students, international
language students, volunteers, interns, language exchangers and
volunteer teachers at the first introduction party for the ESL in
Canada Social Club. The introduction Party will be a comfortable
social gathering for Toronto and surrounding area residents to meet
new friends and pursue similar interests.

The language exchange program is an excellent method to practice
English or learn a new language. The language exchange for the
volunteers was excellent. We had five Spanish speakers available to
trade for Italian, French and English. We had five English speakers
available to trade for Mandarin, Spanish and French. We had three
Mandarin speakers available to trade for English and French. We also
had Japanese, Cantonese, Portuguese, Greek, Turkish and French
speakers who will trade for English. On March 28th Language
exchangers can meet new partners and exchange with the volunteers to
share their language lessons.

The ESL in Canada Social Club will organize future events, tours and
outings. These activities will be fun, and educational. Volunteers
will prepare and present research summaries for airlines, train and
bus group travel. We hope to qualify for several of the group
discounts that are offered to members of clubs. Volunteers will be
collecting information for club tours to the Montreal Jazz festival,
Niagara Wine tour, Algonquin Park, Ottawa Tulip Festival, Whitewater
rafting, East Coast lobster festivals, Jean Baptiste celebrations,
Winter carnivals, Kleinburg Art tours, Mount Tremblant festivals and
group discounts to Toronto sports and entertainment events. Sign up
for an exciting adventure with your friends.

The ESL in Canada Social Club will organize information talks with
question periods. There was great interest in having a variety of
speakers present information to the club members. The suggested
topics for March 28th were: career training for jobs, preparing
yourself for the job market, Canadian culture and customs,
immigration, improving language skills. The information talks are
free at the introduction party.

International cultural exchanges are wonderful and fun experiences.
We are trying to organize the SALSA volunteers to teach us the basic
steps and music appreciation of the Latin world. Join us on March
28th and discover a whole new world.

Many prizes, contests, awards, scholarships, bursaries, free
presentations and other fun events are missing or relativly unknown
in the Toronto area. The ESL in Canada Social Club volunteers will be
assigned to find them or help create them and present the benefits to
the club members. Additional volunteers are required to assist with
research. Please call us at 416-599-6996 to volunteer or come to the
introduction party and sign up.

Directions: The social club introduction party is in the Toronto
Eaton Centre. The party will use the facilities of Herzing College
and The People Bank.

For subway users: go to the Dundas subway and walk south into the
Eaton centre. Walk through the Sears store to the mall area. When you
are at the "ground level" you will see the Roots store on the east
side and the Greenjeans restaurant on the west side. Take the
escalator in front of the Greenjeans restaurant. You will see an
elevator on your left. Take the elevator to the second floor.
Registration will be right in front of you.
